Looking for info: 21 Skater w/twins.
Hi,
I just bought a "new to me" 21ft Skater with twin 2.5's. I would like to get information and maybe talk to someone who has had this same boat. I have questions about "Porpoiseing". Details about my the first trip to the lake: Full Tanks Just me in the boat. Set of cleavers. Both smooth water and moderate chop. Speeds from 0-70 or 80mph-ish (speedo didn't work) I launched the boat and headed out, but no matter what speed and what trim level I was at, the boat would not stop Porpoiseing. It started small then got to the point where the whole boat was coming out of the water. I would let off the gas, it would settle down and the process would start all over. I played with the trim at all speeds, and in the different water conditions. The best trim level ended up being almost all the way "in" close to #1 on the trim gauge. Anything above that accelerated the Porpoiseing. It made the boat not enjoyable and I just put it back on the trailer after an 2hrs I'm looking for info or maybe get on the phone with someone who has or had a 21ft, that can give me some insite on how they ride and if this problem can be fixed. I'm new to this site, so I don't ave the ability to private messages yet. Please help if you can. My next step is to get rid of it & move on. Drive through it
What happens if you push the throttles forward and try to drive through it?
You may not have been going fast enough to get out of the hop range. |

Padraig Everyone who had knowledge of these old boat has either died or moved on on. And since i was not in the market for a new $500,000 boat, they didn't give 2 ****s about questions. O well. |

You may not have been going fast enough to get out of the hop range. It was pretty frustrating. Someone out there had to have this same problem. I just need to find em. |

Call until someone answers the phone, and be polite. The answer you will get is most likely You need to drive through it, though. |
the 14.5x30 props u are running look to be mazco 3 blade os cleavers
if that what the props are,,, the mazco OS props are real high rake cleaver props,,,, these are full lifting props,,,, most 21 skaters with singles run a 4 blade promax prop as their all around prop 21s like the round eared props as help settle the transom not to lift so much might want to try different props first as was only 9 factory twins made so not a lot of data for twins |
