24 skater windshield

There is a guy on Screamandfly that replaced his. He used Lexan. It looked pretty good.
He still used the same wrap that goes around the top of the windshield. It's actually 3/4 inch rubber hose under the material. They are actually made out of aluminium. You could easily remove yours, lay it out flat and use it as a template on new aluminium or Lexan. They all start out flat and the curve of the deck gives the windshield it's contour. No "bending" needed. Not that difficult to do.
"SKATERMIKE" on S&F, if you want to contact him.

My skater has the lexan wind screen however, it is starting to show the stess cracks and it is cracking on the far edges at it meets deck surface. I too am in the market for a black aluminum wind screen. Is it possible to recieve one that is complete (without the holes drilled so I can match it up to the original instalation. Also the trim piece that runs across the top (what exactly is that) is it included in the assembly or is that another aftermarket addition.
Any opinions would be of interest.

That was a factory item and is actually a 3/4 inch hose cut down one side and slipped over the sharp edge of the aluminum. There is then a piece of vinyl material that is rivited onto the aluminum. If you pull your Lexan windshield, lay it flat and have a piece of aluminum cut, then powdercoated, you'll have your new windshield.
I would just recut a piece of Lexan and replace what you have.

I replaced one on my Skater 24. I got it from Liberator.
They are making a copy of 24 Skater. They are located in
South Ft. Worth Texas. They charged me $800, quality seems good. Its been on for 2 years.
