I had the A/C unit installed. It's in the cabinet under the sink and I still have storage space.

I don't have any first hand experience, but I've been told that your insurance won't pay off on any damages if you have a problem caused by a non-marine rated gennie. Check it out if you're concerned about this...

tricky stuff and potentially dangerous. I have factory installed genset and even a wind coming from stern will set off CO detector when its running. Be careful-not worth a disaster.

just installed a 7k Marine Air unit in my 35 sonic. It was a b!tch to plumb and run the wiring. Tried getting factory help to find out how they intalled it and they were useless.

Anyway i just got a Honda 2000 and it ran the A/C, fridge, battery charger all weekend on 2.5 gallons of gas. I put it out on the bow and you could not tell it was even running.

got it for $870 delivered.

HP2K, less the generator, how much did it cost you for the AC install?? How much does one of those AC units weigh? Size?

Here is a website showing specs of the 7k unit that i bought.....

http://www.marineair.com/pdfs/vr.pdf

I found mine used for $500. By the time i bought the pump and all the water hose, duct work, vents, wiring, breaker, fittings, and sea strainer, i think i spent another $400 (pump is $150).

That's a great price for AC!!! I know how much you must have went through to get it installed, I'm finding that nothing is easy when it comes to retrofitting these boats... Not sure if I'll put AC in at any time, have to wait to see how things go as we begin using the boat for overnighting. I've got a lot of little things to do yet and I'm looking into putting MPI's on the motors, exhaust, props, would like ease of starting and a little more hp. Rough getting the motors started if they sit for a week, other than that, they run perfect. Takes a while with carbs to figure out how much fuel they want after sitting for a while...
