You may be right. I'm not sure what qualifies you to make that statement, but it's worth more than that to me. I am in the fortunate position of having a nice boat that I like thats paid for, so if I sell it and I move up is not that important to me. However I have to belive a 42 ft tripp engine fresh water boat in as good a shape as mine is is worth more than that. If you want to value mine or anyone else's boat for that matter tell us what makes you qualifed to do so.

Don't be offended Madcow. There are a lot of very cheap boats out there right now. Most of them are trashed. I flew to Chicago to look at a 2000 42SS that had a good price on it, looked great in pictures. It was a total P.o.s. that I literally would have been embarrassed to bring home to my wife. It was years newer than my 31 and looked 15 years older.
I feel the same as you about the value of my immaculate boat. Go ahead and buy a 31 for $50-60K, you will need to put $20-30K into it to get it up to the condition mine is in. So I will either sell it for what its worth (75K) or I will keep it and enjoy a boat that is nicer than most of my friends newer boats.

I wouldn't say I am offended, it just seems every time you turn around in this site there is some guy wanting to share an opinion without sharing what its based on. Now I have some 32 post wonder telling me (and everyone else here) what my boat is worth without telling anyone what makes him qualified to make such a statement. Come on people lets try to act like we have some credibility here.

Play nice, everyone....it's easy to find descrepencies within the ask price, sell price and true boat condition scenario. Armchair shopping will only provide so much info...bottom line: any boat is only worth what the guy standing in front of it is willing to pay for it at that moment. Outside of that, it's all just talk. You have to actually see the boat(or pay a surveyor to see it for you)....that is the reality of it.

the real market nowadays is the "check writer" market ... the value, book value, etc.. is all b.s.... question is : when you want out, what can you get ...not in six month but within 1-2-3 weeks... and we all know that when a boat reseller writes a check for a speed boat, he wants to steal it...
since there are many many boats out there.... one needs to lower his pants down a little to close a deal and collect a check.
bought my fountain last year , lost my pants.. sold ! this time, i will buy from someone with his pants at knee level !!!
