On the Historic Offshore Race Boat Association site, there is a video titled Highlights 1978 and 1979. It features some real good video of the boat that was trhe grand daddy of the 38 and 42 Sonic.
The boat is Top Banana .....at 38 feet, this was the first boat out of the mold......same mold was used to build Coyote boats later and then was sold to Sonic.....this is the 38 and 42 that you have now...look closely at the lines on the bottom.
Notice how it ran away from the Cigarettes and Scarabs of the day...it was a great rough water boat with that narrow forefoot and long strakes.

It is about 8 minutes into the video for this race.

Charlie saw your post and had a few questions about some of the older boats you built? I am getting ready to look t hull # 3 a 1976 banana not sure of the condition but going to check it out. Re: the historic race boat division does the boat have to have raced or just the model? Do you know if your hull # 3 was built as a race boat or cruiser. It was red and callec second choice unfortunatley now it is black. I look forward to hearing from you.
