I boat on Lake Ontario. Big water is a frequent happening. Very steep, very close together. If conditions are right you can just skim the tops. When I say 6-7 feet, I am measuring from the valley to the top, which isn't how the national weather service measures. You can go as fast as the boat goes. I've been flat out more than once. You just keep pushing the sticks a little farther, until you're surprised you've run out of throttle. Great fun. I don't do it very much anymore, but when the boat was new and still in warranty I did it a lot. Still no stress cracks.
