Default Good showing @ Jammin' on James

Want to let everyone know that Sonic was well represented on the James River Poker Run this past weekend. Correct me if I'm wrong but I do believe we had nine boats there. Here are three

Bill - I think you're right on the Sonic count. We need to organize to get a group shot next year (am I dreaming or what? Organized?)!!

Good seeing you and Patti.

Default Jamming on the James

Who had the fast Sonic that had problems in the first 10 miles. We were running about 80mph and he drove by us. I am thinking he was running 90+. Looked like a 31 with green on the side.
43 Thunder How is the motor. This is Dean.

I don't think the 31 is local and obviously has big power. Not sure if he posts on OSO. I think he broke 2-3 years ago at this run too. Hope it's an easy fix (for him and ME too!)

Just a drive that did not like the amount of tork being applied.
Hope your problem was less.

Problems on this run are usually drive related, mine is in the motor. It's coming out and probably being torn down Sat AM........for the third time this summer! I've been chasing gremlins in the starboard motor all year.

Motors done this winter.....detonated one due to bad injectors (punched out 500EFI's). Apparently didn't get everything out because oil was overheating and finally found the oil thermostat was sticking (oil did get into the high 200's before we realized what the problem was)....finally replaced entire assembly and everything seemed fine for about 12-15 hours. Hit 4,400 at the start of the P.R. then pulled back to 3,900 til about a mile after I passed you at idle. That's when I lost all oil pressure in 10-15 seconds so we shut it down.
Pulled distributor, everything looks OK, hooked oil pump to drill.....40 psi on gauge GREAT!!!! re-install distributor and start motor.....20 PSI! Swapped wires on the gauge and replaced sender but nothing made a difference. Either there is a problem with the oil pump pickup or the bearings have crapped out. Motor is coming out sat AM to see what were dealing with.

Glad to see you joined in. We were all wondering who had the "fast Sonic". Sorry about the drive issue, hope you get back on the water soon. Post a picture if you can if not you can email me one and I will post it for you.
