I was wondering if anybody has taken their arch off and if so what did you use to cover up the holes?

Seems to be a simple unbolt, but I was wondering if there was a step plate available that would cover?

I just installed the Eddie Marine step plates to replace the ugly white plastic peices and they look great!

Why would you want to take the arch off?

I have an arch that came off the sister boat to mine if you know anyone who wants one. The one taken off my boat before I got it was put on another 45 ( Terrible Tess) in our area.

The holes in my boat were filled and painted over.

I agree, I have always liked the styling of the Sonics with the arch, especially the 42ss & 45ss. Although they do weight quite a bit so maybe removal helps increase speed and efficiency?

If you turn them around to lean backwards like a '69 Charger Daytona, they will make the boat go faster. It increases the downforce on the back of the boat, making the props bite better.

Arch is nice for profile look and attaching/storing bimini....

but it's a real head banger!

Thanks Brain, so... not only is the reversed arch great styling but would actually help lift (reversed) that deep 25 degree V out of the water at high speeds. Good reason for long X dimension on the outdrives.

Its a win-win. They go both ways!
