Help on 44 SS....
I'm thinking of getting a 44 SS (2000) w/ triple 500 EFI's and less than 200 hrs. Wondering if anyone has had one or similar and any opinions..good or bad.:ernaehrung004:

Theres only a few of these around, which one is it?
|
I didn't know there was a 44. Pics and specs please!
|
JayFan: Sent you a PM re: my 42SS
|
Actualy I'm wrong..it's the 45 SS. Here it is:http://www.teamshogren.com/pre-owned...-ss-sonic.html
|
I'm very very skeptical about the 3 engines, and drives for that matter. That seems like one big headache and mucho $...but it is a awesome looking boat.
|
I've got one. What do you want to know??
It's also for sale |
When you are over forty feet, three is not so bad. I have lost fan belts, raw water pumps, due to silt and other things. I can still get up on plane and go.
|
I talked to Scott Shrogen today and he stated that the owner of the 45 SS traded it in for a center consul, and never had ANY mechanial issues.... and he gave me his name, so I think your info is off.
45...just interested in how happy you are with it. I hear they are slow??? How much gas does it eat?? How much are you asking, would you take a trade, how much, hours etc.?? Email me some pics if you happen to have some. Thanks!:ernaehrung004: [email protected] |

It will run 80 or it has problems. I've talked to others who have them and tested one at lake X. There is a 45 with x-boxes and 575's it goes 93. Remember Sonic's forte is luxury performance not overall speed, I love mine. It eats rough water.
|
Sonics may be slow in flat water, but they smoke most boats in the rough. Running WOT in almost any conditions makes them hang with or pass much faster boats.

Call me tomorrow

Sonic Boom is the boat name, it has Cobra powered engines.
I've been on it during a tie up and those 45's are nice, room/luxury with the right power awesome :D http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o...4/P6220408.jpg |
Nice!
|
Thanks guys for all the input!!! I just can't pull the lever on 3 engines.... I'm a weinie. I love the graphics, inside and out, and Scott's giving me a good deal also....
Hey guys with 3 engines...how is it on GAS! Does anyone really have a top end on this?? 45 Sonic.. on a scale of 1-10, how happy are you with yours?? Thanks! |
It should clear 80mph. A 386 with trip 500's and boxes runs north of 86 on gps.
If fuel economy is that big a deal, don't use the center engine!:D |
I saw the boat out at Shogrens about a month ago and it was a real nice ride. Scott seemed like he would be great to deal with. Id say gas consumption wouldnt be that bad if you dont run the snot out of it as well as the drivetrain should last. Just pray for the gas prices stay low!:D
|
Isn't Sonic Boom owned by Randy Travis??
Jayfan, call me so we can talk |
Sonic 45...you have any interest in my boat??? I know ya said your's is for sale....:ernaehrung004:

I almost bought sea-n-red, it's a great boat, with recent upgrades and a new trailer. 45sonic is a straight shooter. If you are really interested in a 45, you should call him. |
I'm selling my 386. Trip. 500hp's. It's not advertised, but I'm selling.
|
I love mine and gas isn't that bad if you don't run wide open all the time. Gas is only bad during the poker run.....but if you are worried about fuel buy a 16ft boat with a 4 cyl :) and save a ton of money
|
I have a 17' bowrider with a 4 banger, use it frequently, always in the water. Burns maybe 60-70 gallons a year!
I can vouch for carrboys boat, it's nice, pretty fast, loaded up and on a beautiful trailer. Keeps it in a heated garage. |
If gas goes back up to $4 bucks, that would be a killer...to ALL of us!!!!
|
Naw, you just float more, WOT less. I was still boating every weekend when it was $700+ to fill the tank.
|
If your serious about a Sonic, you should contact carrboy or 45sonic.
