Best props for a 31ss

I have a 2003 31ss with 496 ho's. What are the best props for this boat?

45SS 03-23-2009 07:29 PM

Do you have the 375 or the 425's . I know the 31 with 500's come with 30's , and they are slighty to much. (If the boat has air, fridge electric head,) If you have the 425's you are probaly going to start with a 26 or 28 Bravo I .

I have a 2002 31 and originally I was running 26p bravo 1 props , but later switched to 28p bravo 1 labbed finished and they work great!! do a seach on this section because this was
discussed another time.

I hate to say this but labbed 28's are pretty much standard 26's. Better top end but will lose some whole shot.

What did the boat come with??

I was told it came with 26 bravo one's but they are no longer on it. I just tried 28 bravo one's but i'm only turning 4300-4500 rpm. That is if my tacks are correct. How do hydromotive props work on these boats?

Are you in with the Richmond PowerBoat Association?
The group probably has the full gamut of props you can try.

MAKE SURE YOU SIGN UP FOR JAMMIN' ON THE JAMES IN JULY!!

I have to disagree with that statement. A labbed 28 is really more like a 27P. When I first got my new to me 31SS out last fall with the 26P Bravos, I was all over the rev limiter at 72 MPH. I traded them for a set of Mercury labbed 28's and ran a little over 74 at 5050 RPM. My plan is to have a standard set of 28's for cool weather and run the labbed 28's in the heat of summer.

Like I said eariler. He has to try diffrent props. This boat has so many options available to it that add weight. A/C
Refrigerator, Electric head, Stereo, amps and battries to drive these options. The dash cooler full of beer and wine and ice is 50 plus pounds. Everybody is going to be a little bit diffrent.

The boat has a frig and AC. I was told by a rep from Sonic that the boat should do between 76 -78 with 26 bravo one's. From what you guys are saying I don't know if that's possible or not.

Sonics don't particularly like Hydromotive props. Start with the 26's and tweek from there. Only make one change at a time.

Here is a set:
