what is the difference between the 2 ?

Ok... 3 foot, 3rd engine, but what else ?

the 3 extra foot is located where? bigger cabin? bigger cockpit ? or just bigger engine compartment? or 1 foot in each section?

The 45 is only about 2 and a couple inches. the cabins are popped from the same mold. The 45 is extented in the engine comparment to accomadate the extra engine. I have driven both, in my opinion the 42 needs more than 500 or 525, they will run 70 to 73 on a good day with this power. The 45 with 500's (in my case) will run 82 to 83 on a good day. The 42 rides great, the 45 carries more weight, so it rides a little smoother. There are pro's and con's on the maintiance. Having to buy three of everything can get costly.

so you prefer the 45 because of the speed... but money wise your choice would be 42... and that was my guess also...

Having had both, we'd go back to the 42. The third engine is a pain. Size is the same and, yea, the 45 may be faster but I would still go back to the 42 with larger engines.

I haven't owned either one, but the ones I have looked at the 45 cockpit looked bigger to me than the 42's.
