Also, does anyone know the speed limits of a top in both the fully open and closed but propped up positions? The material is the same as my cockpit cover. It's like Sunbrella.

I remember once seeing a sign at the old Sonic plant in Hollywood that you should keep under 50MPH with the Bimini up. I assume that was without an arch. I have an arch, and I run it all the way up to the rev limiters which is 72MPH.
I would assume it is all according to your tie downs. The Sunbrella is really tough.

Can you show pics of yours? I have an arch also and have looked into bimini tops before. Does your remove or just fold down when you dont want it up.

You are asking your bimini to stand up to a hurricane force wind! My solution was to buy a Taylor pontoon boat gazebo. I made some fittings to clamp it to the rails rather than drill holes, You can't use it under way but it works great at anchor

Is it so you can create somewhat of a leaning back arch with the top installed, and standing up, but not folded out over the cockpit? I've seen this with several similar covers.

Thats my guess too.

We have a guy here in Richmond who has made bimini's for several folks. He guarantees them to 70mph.

The key is all SS tubing and hardware, through bolts, and no straps for stability.
