Bimini Questions
#1
I installed my Bimini top for the first time today. It's going to be a hot one tomorrow. I was confused by an extra set of mounts that are slightly wider apart. Does anyone know what they are for? I do have a camper top for this boat. But, I don't see any more poles.
Also, does anyone know the speed limits of a top in both the fully open and closed but propped up positions? The material is the same as my cockpit cover. It's like Sunbrella.

I have a totally different boat and set up but stay under 50mph with my top up. Your set up looks very sturdy with no support from a windshield which is my biggest concern so probably ok to go faster. Its not worth stressing the top to run harder for me. It's not going to let me get to ideal top speed anyway. I'll often put up top when anchored and drop to run.

I remember once seeing a sign at the old Sonic plant in Hollywood that you should keep under 50MPH with the Bimini up. I assume that was without an arch. I have an arch, and I run it all the way up to the rev limiters which is 72MPH.
I would assume it is all according to your tie downs. The Sunbrella is really tough.

How fast is a factor of the bimini material, and the mount system.
We run up to about 75 and even 80 sometimes with them up, mine starts to flap loudly at about 85, and Ill back down.
Ive seen some rip off at 50 injuring a rider.
What is the rest of the system in place on your rig look like?

Thanks for the replys, guys. I figured I'd keep it below 55 with the top up. I went running up the river at 70+, so I closed it back up. I'd still like to know what those extra mounts are for, though. I'm worried it's for the camper top and I'm missing some parts.

That is a total different set up than my 02. It is mounted on the side of the walk way below the metal rail and then to the top of the railing. I like the quick disconnect because mine are bolts u have to take in and out.

I finally hauled out the camper top and figured out how to install it. I'm not missing any parts, so I still can't figure out why I have an extra set of bimini mounts on the walkaround.

Is it so you can create somewhat of a leaning back arch with the top installed, and standing up, but not folded out over the cockpit? I've seen this with several similar covers.
