I would say that its a little longer then that. The ass end will drag as the rpm's stay around 3000 3100. I would estimate 10-12 seconds. I watch all these other boats just jump rite up on plain and im wondering why mine does not.

Ok thanks for the help. Im sure Ill see you round if your from maryland. I run out of middle river. Yellow and purple sonic. Name on the boat is Rampage. See you out there next year.

10 seconds is way too long. 3K is about right for planing. I never used the tabs on my 31 unless there was traffic I needed to watch. How much throttle are you using?

Tabs up, drives down, lanyard on and hammer time! Soon as the bow starts coming down I start trimming out the drives and sometimes I back off on the throttles. I could not stand to part throttle a take off. I also have 28p bravo 1 props with 496 Mag HO's, I think it's easier on the engines to get it on plan asap.

I am running 4 blade 26 mirage props. I see that everybody is running the 28's. maybe thats the problem. I played with it a little bit yesterday but still had the same issues with the rpm's shooting up. It's like as soon as the ass drops down the rpms shoot up. Almost like the props are spinning crazy hard and fast and im just not getting up. starting to become annoying now.

I was out yesterday and played around with it. When it comes to the amount of throttle...... The best way to describe it is......As soon as the ass end drops down and it gets to 1700 1800 rpm the rpms begin to shoot up with out even giving it any additional throttle....... when I do give it more juice they just head to round 3000 3100 and eventually gets on plane. I see all these 38 footers jumping up and out of the water but Im starting to get annoyed with this. I am running 4 blade 26 pitch mirage props. Its almose like the prop is spinning around the hub and cant bite when its got throttle coming to it.

Sounds like your props are blowing out. Do they have diffusers on them? I thought mirages only came in 3 blades.

I bet you wouldn't have any trouble with 4 blade 26P or 28P bravo's.

I think it would be time well spent if any other 31 owners who live near you could take a ride on your boat.

If they are mercruiser props, they aren't 4 blade mirages. Mirage are 3 blade, Bravo are 4 blade. Lower pitch will plane faster than higher. 28's won't plane as well as 26's.

I agree with BN, it sounds like your props are blowing out. Its possible you have prop hub or engine coupler issues. I would have someone go for a ride to give you a first hand opinion. The easiest thing would be to try a different set of props. Be sure they are stock Bravo props. If they are props with vent plugs, get some solid plugs for the vents (round black plastic plugs on the outdrive side of the props).
