New Tow Rig

I sold my '01 Suburban 2500 a few weeks ago and took advantage of the 0% financing Chevy had running on this '11 Silverado 2500HD with the Duramax/Allison drivetrain.

A friend of the family owns a dealership in eastern Michigan and gave me a far better deal than I could get in Minnesota. The downside was that I had to drive it home 750 miles. I got home last night after driving through freezing rain during the last 2.5 hours. The truck handled the slippery conditions with ease.

Now, it's time to start customizing. The first order of business is to install some side-steps. This thing is tall!

Congrats! It looks great. That front bumper is roughly the size of a Honda Civic; mounted sydwayz.

Nice rig!!, I 'd pop those pizza cutter tires off before doing anything else :)

Custom wheels and bigger tires are definitely on the list, but not first. Steps are first and a bed cover second. I want to wait until someone has an aftermarket computer available that can adjust the tire size. The ECM for 2011 is all new, so there's nothing out there, yet. It sounds like I can get 33's on it with just a front leveling kit.

And about as sturdy as a beer can.

Nice truck too. :drink:

Nice truck, congrats!

I agree on the tires and wheels but from a functionality standpoint, you're probably better off leaving those tires on. If nothing else, they will serve as a great set of winter tires...

Congratulations! You will really appreciate it this spring with the sonic in tow. :drink:

Congrats!!!
I would have to agree with adding larger tires and the steps. I put 285 BF Goodrich TA's on my '06 and went to http://www.truckaddons.com for the bed cover, steps, tail gate lock and bug guard. With the tires and side steps it fills the gaps in nicely and made big difference in appearance. During last years two big snow storms I was able to go just about anywhere I wanted and had no problems. It also tows the Sonic really nice as well.

I also went with the Edge controller but have a had some problems with it so I would certainly do your homework before you decide.
