Just following up... I do get cranky now and again... and I vented one day... and I have since had several talks with Carmine and Tony and I am sure they are doing all they can to get the boat to me and it will be more than I expected... I now understand they situation much better and also feel better that I will have a very nice boat. Spoke to carmine today and we are hoping for this weekend... Tim did not mean to through your name around.. appreciate your photos... I have not yet seen the boat yet and yours were the fist pictures up close that I saw... hopefully it will be here soon and I can giv eyou all a report on ho w great it is... I thank tony and carmine for all their efforts and look forward to delivery soon.

I stopped in to see Carmine today.
He enlightened me to the many issues he has run into getting parts. It only reinforced my thoughts that I was dead on. I am sure that they want nothing more than to get you your boat to you as quickly as possible. I hope to see it hit the water this weekend for a sea trial. I have another boat to do a shoot of but will certainly get more pics of the Sonic now that it is near completion. |
I spoke to him as well he is working overtime to get it done... just one small glitch and we are on our way.... hopefully it will be running..... if you could get a pic of the boat under way.. would be great.. but certainly appreciate the photos you have posted. It does look nice, thanks

To Clear the Air
Just want to let everyone know the situation with this boat and say Thanks to SP for his patience.
Upon him purchasing the boat, a trade and waiting on him to possibly sell his other boat was part of the deal. At the time of purchase there was no rush on the boat as he had other issues to settle and was given an incredible deal on a brand new boat. As time went on, we had sold over 14 boats that were put into production and the 31 Sonic had been put off to the side as the customer did not want the boat until spring. By the time the new year came around and he was ready for his boat, I was unable to find an available spot in my production schedule and upon ordering the engines for his boat it was a 7 - 8 week wait on a pair of 8.2's from Mercury. Between starting a new company, moving the facility across the state of florida, revamping & engineering two name brands of boats, and tooling up 3 new models, we have had a very busy year. Our production line is now in full swing and producing about 3 boats a month. I completely understand your frustration but how could we have known last year that our sales would have been what they are today. I do appreciate your patience and look forward to meeting you some day soon. Thanks, John |
The boat will be worth the wait. Really looking forward to seeing the new 38.

Paint
She is currently in the paint shop, will post some photos over the next couple days. Going to be an amazing boat.
|
Looking forward to some tests and numbers.
Is the new bottom available on a 45 in a tripple engine version ? If so does it have to be Mercury Power or can the Engines be outsourced and delivered to you to install and rig ? |
sonic
I spoke to Carmine yesterday he said it was in the water and ran approx. 71 MPH... in fog and rough water and not being pushed .... just making sure everthing was OK.. He further indicated it will be delivered to me on Saturday. Just came from the marina to make arraignments to have it put in the water on Saturday. John would love to meet you if you ever make it to the Northeast let me know. also looking to break it in over the next two weeks as I will have it in Long Island for the Don Aronow Mem. Run. Billy Frenz is holding my spot. That will make my wait well worth it. SP

Aronow

Yes we have designed a new step bottom in the 45 and have one currently layed up in the molds. Yes you can have Mercury Power or customer supplied power, " Your Choice". It is available in Triple or Staggered application. John |

just wanted to update: I took delivery of my sonic on Saturday night it looked very nice on the trailer however much better in the water. I brought my 13 yr old who was leaving for school the next day for a ride. It was great to see her face when I punched it.... the boat jumped out of the water very qucikly and we were running at 50 with in a few seconds. the 8.2 motors really put out some power. we blaseted around the bay for a bit and came in... I must have cought some seaweed or something because I strated to have some trouble getting the boat back on plane. today I wnet back played with the props some and went int he watrer again. spent two hours on it flying around the bay, aorund Newprot and Jamestown. the boat ran great... steady at 40 mph better over 70.... I did however miss my outboard motor as I noticed the gas gague and saw that I went through 1/2 tank of gas... oh welll best gas I ever burned. I will have several photos posted later of it on the water. Thanks again Carmine and Tony..... it is well worth the wait.

Congratulations. Still plenty of time to use it around here.We may head to Newport next Sat.I'll keep an eye out for you.Good luck with her.
|
Congrats!
Please post some top speed GPS numbers when you get a chance. I know the 32 Sunsations have been running substantially faster with the new 8.2's. I'm curious to see if that's the case with the 31SS. |
Congrats ! I know you will love your 31 as we do ours !

sonic
Bondo10 if you get to Newport send me an email... I can be on the water in ten mins.... I am very happy with it. It handled the waves as my daughter described " like a tank" I did not push it at all but ran it up to 4400 and it read 71 on the gps.. backed it right down as I do not want to chance the warranty but the speedo was climbing ...... playing with the trim and tabs... at 2800 it was going 40 mph.... at 3400 51.... very steady.. we now have 3 .8 hours on the engines, by tomorrow that should be near 10.. so as I put more time on it I will push it more and post the top end speeds. I will add It is running 26" bravo 4 blades...

thanks for your well wishes.... I know carmine was happy to hear from me today.. I know he really worked hard to get this boat to me.. What a difference a few feet make on the water. coming from my 24 banana to the 31 this plows through the waves... and the torque on the 8.2 is realy nice. going out again right now ....
|
Good Luck and Enjoy. You got yourself a great boat. They are so much fun to drive. Thanks for all the updates.
|
The 31 is a nice boat. Lots of nice stuff to say about it. Good luck and have fun with her.
As you climb in size up thru the Sonic line, you will really begin to appreciate what really nice boats they produce. Its amazing what difference a few feet can make. |
The 31 is the all around most fun sonic to drive. It used to be called the "Hardbody", and for good reason. It does handle the waves like a tank. Congratulations, that is a great set up.
|
45Tripps,
I agree with you completely. I had my 31 for 5 years and thought it was an awsome wave crusher. I got the opportunity to ride on a 42 this past weekend at Lake Cumberland Poker run. It took every wave thrown at it and I barely mowed inside the cockpit. Amazing what 11 feet does. Hopefully one day I can get one. |
Great news and congrats! I think the 31' is my favorite Sonic.
Still has some of the classic lines and big enough to behave like a large boat. Pix's please. |
up to 15 hours... top end was 74 mph... at 4700 will be drive it more today and then getting it tuned up as I am bringing it to long island for the don aronow race... what a great boat... never thought it would run this well...

sonic
will probably do so over the winter.... but just trying to get it running and a few hours on it... I was happy to break 70.... there are not many boats in my area that will do more than that.. and at my age I do not want to do 90....
