Default Prowler Water/Waste Tank Winterization ?

Got my Prowler last January. Put RV antifreeze in the water and waste systems and stored for the Winter. Flushed both out this Spring and filled water tank with plain water and put some of that blue stuff in the waste tank. Did not use either so right now the water tank is empty and the waste tank still has that blue stuff in it.

Getting ready to store for winter. I plan to put a gallon of RV antifreeze in the water system, circulate and pump out the extra antifreeze. Then pump the blue stuff out of the waste tank, put RV antifreeze in the toilet and flush to the tank.

Is that a good winterization plan?

Do y'all put cholrine (bleach) in the water tank to purify it for drinking purposes? If so, how much do you use for 20 gallons?

I would run atleast 4-5 gallons of antifreeze thru the fresh water system.

You have the holding tank that may still have a little bit of water in it past the pick up tube, you have the water lines to the galley sink, the head sink, the head itself, the head discharge lines to the holding tank, the holding tank itself, and then the faucets themselves.

4-5 Gallons may be overkill, but for the small cost of the antifreeze, compared to the cost to repair/replace things due to water/freezing damage, better to be safe then sorry.

I run the stuff thru all the faucets, transome shower, flush the toilet several times, then dump a few additional gallons in the toilet directly then flush them too.

Never had any issues with the water systems doing this as described.

For the fresh water system, west marine has a bottle of water purifier, Like $15.00 per bottle, which I think is concentrated chlorine liquid basically. I have used that, and I have also diluted granual chlorine in water and poured that an in the fresh water tanks too ( I have 2 for 50 gallons total ). Keeps the water from getting foul smelling.

45Tripps.........Thanks for the info.

OBTW - I live in St. Mary's County. Normally launch at St. George's Island ramp and run around in the Potomac and St.Mary's rivers. Go to VA a lot to eat and bar hop. Been wanting to get to the Patuxent River but it is one of those "round tuits" I have not done. Will try next year and launch out of Solomons Rec Center. Looks like they have a good ramp but parking availability is suspect.
