71 is my best day ever with high 60's the norm. I can't imagine the weight difference being HUGE enough to gain 10 mph

Generally a 358 with 500 EFI's is right around 74 with full fuel and 3 or 4 people.

496 HO's in a 31ss will do from 70 to 76 MPH
depending upon the props. Mine with a 26P
will go 72MPH with Bimini up, full fuel, and
4 people.

The real issue is cruise speed. Mine is 50MPH
at 3500RPM. It will do that in almost any sea
condition.
