Hey guys! im new here, but not new to boating.
Im seriously consodering a sweet looking sportster 220 which is for sale locally, but i cant find any information on them! Ive emailed sonic, but am not expecting much on that front. Even a search in this board doesnt yield much.
The current owner has transplanted a 502 mag, with a bravo one x drive which will be a blast to drive, but im worried about how it will perform on the lakes i will be cruising where 21' cobalt and sea ray run abouts are most common. i would like to be able to at least cruise with my dads donzi classic club cruises in somewhat moderate chop without getting banged around (maybe 2' - 3' white caps at the very worst). Is this the right kind of boat for that?
My dream boat is a donzi 22zx, but i cant seem to find one in my area within my budget.
Your opinions would be greatly appreciated!!

Only 12 were made I am told, so not a lot of people have driven them. That being said, I would be shocked if it can't at least match a 22 donzi for ride in rough water. Big water is what sonics do.

wow 12!?! That is crazy rare. I was thining the same thing. but there were a couple posts I found in this board that said it was terrible in the chop - the owner has also confirmed this. Problem is that "chop" is a subjective term...I guess I would really need a test drive to get my own feel for it.

I too would think a Sonic would handle rough water well. However the majority of the members here are using much larger boats so nearly everyone would consider a 22ft boat a "rough riding" vessel.
(I too heard they only made 12)
