Our boat club went to New Orleans for the weekend, stayed @ marina and watched LSU smash the Gators! 2nd time out in boat, love the ride. 6 ft. seas on the way home today, no problem! We were very impressed with the ride! Took these b4 we left Sat. morning. Will take some more later.

1990 boat, 525 sc's, bravo 1s. Last owner had the engines, drives, upholstery, dash redone in 1998. Got 74 on GPS, 5400 rpms (3/4 fuel, loaded for weekend trip). Had to hold back, didn't want to turn too much. 5200 is usually max on these engines I think. may need new props? They are 25s, not sure of dia. , will check later.

bn 10-14-2002 10:43 AM

Great looking boat! I think that my boat is the same model - 1995 35 SS. I had 25 3 blade props on my boat and we ran 67.1 on GPS. When I switched to 24 4 blades (hydromotive), the boat felt MUCH better and it ran 66.7 on GPS. It seemed to come up on top of the water more and it seems to me much more efficient. I only have 454 Mag MPI's. I bet 26 or 28 Hydro 4 blades would work great on your boat.

hadahavit 10-14-2002 03:53 PM

Boat looks nice wish we could have made the trip that's always a
good time. I have a pair of 27 hydros if you want to try them my boats up for the winter.

jmeng 10-14-2002 04:22 PM

Boat looks great, very clean. Glad y'all had a good trip.

TeamSonic42 10-14-2002 05:48 PM

Clean Boat......

Very Nice & Clean Sonic ! My brother is looking to get into a 34-35 Sonic. He currently has a 32 Pachanga w/ 454/330's. Very Clean boat with Factory Arch- Very, Very Rare ! Anyone know of one for sale let me know....

Hey guy's with the Hydromotives- How is your boat out the hole ? I have 24 4 blade Hydromotive on my 42 with 500's and IT SUCKS OUT THE HOLE ! Constantly blows out. Really have to ease the power on. And with full fuel & 6 people.... a disaster to get on plane, especially if its rough ! Called hydromotive & they claim these are the right props for my boat, although I can only get 4800 out of her with these props ! No diffusser rings on the props, Hydromotive says I can buy them from them or send my props in & they will put them on & they say it will stop the blowing out, but will loose top end ( 4800 is already bad enough ! ).

Currently have them for sale. Perfect condition, less than 30 hrs use ! Sonic dealer also say they suck, say to go to a bravo 4 blade. Looking to find a better prop. Boat under its potential with these props, although once on plane rides nice, but I feel cruising speed is lower than what should be.... 3800RPM @ 42-44mph on GPS. Have been told should be running atleast 50 or more at that RPM.

Any impute ?

Also have 2 sets gill exhaust for sale, like new... going to CMI headers.

bn 10-14-2002 06:55 PM

TeamSonic42 - my boat is for sale. It's a 1995 35 with 1999 454 Mag MPI's. It's turn-key, fresh water boat with only about 200 hrs on the motors. Email me if you think that your brother might be interested: [email protected]

I have no problems getting up on plane with the 4 blades. Like any boat, if I get over anxious to get up, it will blow out. But that has only happened a few times. It definitely planes better with the 4 blades compared to the 3 blades.

TeamSonic42 10-15-2002 12:45 PM

Your 35 is very, very nice ! We looked at it for sale on another site. Actually saved your video clip ! He really liked it, but was a little too much for him $$$$$ wise. He is/was looking for something in the $50k range. If you can move on the price some, he may consider it. Send me a PM if you want to discuss it further.

With my hydromotives I have to ease it up to 3000rpm, then apply power. Cant firewall it at all from stand still, too much boat & torque . Once hooked up, it planes & handel great with these props ! With tabs down I can remain on plane a around 2000rmp or so depending on conditions with the hydromotives.Heard fountain had the same problems with the larger boats also.

I can tell anyone this much, I tried a set of bravo clones
( sterndriver mach 1 stainless props ), flew out of the hole, but lost 8mph top end over the hydromotives !!!

These props should work well on 35 and below....

Asking price for the pair as being like new $800.00 for the pair, but will entertain offers. Beleive list is $600+ea.

Asking price for the Gill Exhaust is $1700.00 per set, but will entertain offers also. List is somewhere around $2500.00ea new.
Prefer to sell as a set, but will consider seperating.

Both items are like new shape ! Approx 30hrs on both items.

GO4BROKE 10-15-2002 06:14 PM

Nice boat Kathycool! Nice power too!

BN, Love the avatar! When are you putting the boat up?

bn 10-15-2002 07:42 PM

Thank you for the compliment TeamSonic42! I will send you a PM.

Thanks Chris! We are going to the Annapolis Boat show this weekend, so we will be putting it up soon after that. (if we don't trade it in):D Just kidding.

Is yours put away yet?

kathycool 10-15-2002 08:25 PM

Thanx for all the compliments,....bn, saw your video also, very nice boat/graphics.
hadahavit, might just give those props a try sometime, thanx.
Teamsonic42, have the same problem getting on plane with our 34....25 hydros. 42 mph cruise @ 3600 rpms. bn, what is your cruise speed/rpms?
Anybody know what the weight of the 1990 34s are? Any tips, suggestions, experiences much appreciated!

Julio 10-16-2002 12:03 PM

Hey George,
It was a great trip to New Orleans. We had a blast watching the LSU game and partying until 3 am. I have to say the highlight of the night was when you misjudged your step into my boat. I'm proud of you for not spilling your beer!
Remember, I ain't drunk, I'm just drinking!:D

jmeng 10-16-2002 01:32 PM

Julio,

You only lasted till 3am? Must be getting old or something.:D You going to the races next month?

bn 10-16-2002 07:12 PM

kathycool - we are cruising at approx. 3500 rpm at 48 mph.

GO4BROKE 10-16-2002 07:39 PM

BN, nope, the boats not put away yet. I may take it out for a burn saturday. Are you going to the Lauderdale show? It is almost time to give up for the season. Ontario is so low I can't get the boat into my own dock!! So the dock is coming out soon too. I'll see you at Scotts party, do you have a costume yet?

kathycool 10-16-2002 10:02 PM

Thanx for the info bn.

jmeng, He is an old man :D
We're plannin' on goin' to the races on Wed. and Sun. weather permitting.
I heard Mike got a new boat?;)
Had a great time too Ju, even enjoyed the swim:p

RNH 10-17-2002 10:31 PM

HEY KATHYCOOL & GEORGE,

NICE LOOKING SONIC. MY 311 FORMULA IS STORED NEXT TO YOUR SPOT IN THE SUMMERFIELD BOAT STORAGE FACILITY.

I SAW GEORGE AT THE LANDING SUNDAY WHEN WE WERE LEAVING OUT.

I WANTED TO MAKE THE NEW ORLEANS TRIP WITH YA'LL BUT I HAD TO WORK SATURDAY.

SEE YOU ON THE WATER,
ROBIN

jmeng 10-17-2002 11:26 PM

Robin,

Heard you bought a Formula, post some pics of it. I've always really liked the 311. Are you still in the stereo buisiness? Got a couple of questions for you.

LJ

kathycool 10-18-2002 09:08 AM

His boat is stored next to ours, saw it last weekend in the water, grahpics look cool! Very nice boat.
Has your dad picked out his new one yet?

G

jmeng 10-18-2002 09:26 AM

Yeah it's been picked out, hopefully it'll be here for next weekend. Waiting on a trailer right now.

So is Mike excited? It's going to be tough seeing that boat go.

Has everyone been pretty happy with the boat storage in Summerfield? Is it covered? Has there ever been any security problems?

kathycool 10-18-2002 06:48 PM

Yeah, Mike's pretty excited!

The Summerfield landing/storage is very nice, big shed with a tall bay door (that locks) on each stall. Haven't heard of any problems with security.

What kind, size, power, boat is your dad gettin'?

G.

jmeng 10-18-2002 07:00 PM

Figured Mike had told you about Dads boat. It's a 2000 model 35' Fountain. Has carberated 500 HPs with 38 hours on it. Wish I could figure out how he keeps stumbling across low hour boats like this.

Probably going to spend Sunday getting the boat lift set up for it. New cable and stuff like that.

RNH 10-19-2002 09:49 PM

jmeng,

I sold my stereo shop 3 years ago, started a swimming pool business, working harder now than before ( go figure ).

I'll try to answer any questions you may have.
The stereo business changes pretty fast and i'm a little out of touch.

hadahaveit tells me ya'll have a new boat in your future.

I hope to make next months meeting in B.R.
