Is this Jays boat?

I can see that I had a guy that was moveing my scarab that worked at the marina gas it and throw it in gear blowing up my blackhawk drive.
I only use the gas if it's windy, a 42 tends to get blown around a bit.
It's just when your docking or rafting up I like to look over the side and I would think it will be harder if the shifter's are on the left, unless you want to set it up like a Fountain and put another helm in f2 style.

How do you guys with the 42's like the side-by-side bolsters and the U type rear bench? It seems like it would be okay when you have your girl on board but maybe a little close when its boys night out.

I was thinking the same thing when I got mine, but now I love it.Your not any closer than if you were in a small car, if you are out in the ocean in the rough stuff its nice having somebody to work the gps and open your beer right next to you. and when you have your girl on board its nice and easy to get things started if you know what I mean. Plus the bathroom is so much bigger once you have that you dont want to go to anything smaller.

You guys are not helping. I'm trying to talk myself out looking harder at Jay's boat. I found out it doesn't have a trailer and the extra $10,000 would put it out of reach for me. Or I have to keep telling myself that. Plus I have a deal in the works now.

I am happy with my 42. I don't have the cockpit U shaped seating. The side by side bolsters are nice at the helm. Sometimes it is tight to get out the drivers seat past the passenger, but otherwise It has more advantages than dis-advantages.
It is nice to have someone right next to you so you dont have to yell across the aisle, and to assist with beverages, navigating etc.
The bath room size is nice, not cramped & is very usuable all the way around. The 42 has lots of room in the salon is very comfortable. Plenty of room and nice ammenities......
I would not like the throttles and shifter seperated unless had tripples, and maybe not even then. Sometimes it can be a pain with throttles & shifters next to one another, especially in a situation when you accidentially hit the wrong lever, when its the worse time to do so. Did that once on a windy day getting on the trailer and hit the fwd/rv lever and ended up bending the throttle linkage on the engine....luckily nothing worse. It can be a pain docking or getting on/off the trailer on windy days as the 42 does get pushed around by the wind. Getting on the trailer is worse with wind.
Size does matter !

Haven't had a chance to answer your question about the BT vs the Sonic. The seating is almost the same except there is another bolster on the port side for three across seating. Helps when out with just the guys. As far as the rest. Don't know about the ride as of yet but expect it to be comparable if not hopefully better (if that is possible) BUT the big thing is the accomodations in the cabin. I've had 2 42 Sonic and 1 41 Sonic. Love the boats but just wanted more once we got to where we are going. Got tired of the cramped quarters and the lack of privacy. Wanted more of a cruiser accomodation but to be able to stay with the speed.
If this weather ever goes away we need to meet up on the bay for some further discussions and drinks. I hope this boat does everything that we hope it will do and everything we have been told it will do. Will just have to wait and see.
Come on warmer weather

I too have had the lovely experience of hitting the throttle by mistake at the wrong time. The BT has the same side throttle and shifter but are set up with the shifters next to each other and the throttles next to them. My Formula was the same way and made for easy docking. I really did not like to reach around the throttle to get to the starboard shifter but just got used to it.
