GO4BROKE 07-06-2003 11:40 AM

I like it like that!

dyno 07-07-2003 05:33 AM

did he break 100 mph yet????

GO4BROKE 07-07-2003 05:03 PM

Gps tattle tale looks to be reading 98mph, pretty close to the magic number.

Sydwayz 07-08-2003 07:56 AM

That's one BAD MAMA-JOMMA!!!!

Dano 07-08-2003 10:45 AM

Kent,
Man you fast with the digital...I was thinking Weds...party in the Park, then Friday...boondoggle day!

Guys,
That's about all she has without lessening the wetted surface of the hull or upping the boost. Ain't gonna do it, runs strong, rides safe, starts everytime and don't break. When I keep the boost at 5lbs she runs low 90's.

Besides now that it is what it is...time for a new one! Know anybody looking for a totally decked out 31?

Clay Washington 07-08-2003 11:09 AM

How much $$$ ?

Dano 07-08-2003 12:20 PM

Well depends on how many of the extra goodies ya' want with it.
It has a full custom Myco trailer, pfm superchillers, several sets of props and a ton of cabin stuff...if you think you maybe interested I can send you a complete list of everything along with some hi-res jpegs.

Clay Washington 07-09-2003 01:43 PM

I have my Crownline up "For Sale". After it sells, I plan to look for a used 31ss. I am not interested in "performance stuff" right now. I can do that later.

Right now I want a smooth riding boat with a large, comfortable cabin. A/C and Heating. Shore Power w/ charger. Electric Head. I would also like to be able to use it as an income tax deduction (second home).

How much does a 31ss weigh (including the trailer)? My Chevy Silverado is rated at 7800 pounds, so I would assume that a 31ss would be a little over that. :(

birdog 07-09-2003 02:07 PM

Thats what happens when you leave the GPS on when towing..:D
Do you detect a hint of jealousy ???!!!:D

Serious.....That has to be the sweetest 31 Sonic around !!!
Dano rates as being VERY Anal about his boats !!!!!You can't go wrong...........

GO4BROKE 07-09-2003 06:14 PM

A half ton Chevy pulls a 31 Sonic very nicely if you have a decent trailer, I did it for several years.

East Coast B 07-10-2003 06:06 AM

The 31ss is 7000lbs dry(base model w/no options), maybe a little less with the new building process for the newer models. Now add weight for all your options, fuel(150gal x 6lbs = 900lbs), fresh water and all the misc. junk we all take with us.

A trailer will start at about 1,000lbs for an aluminum tandem, add triaxle or steel and you can add weight accordingly.

I tow hills and tend to stay within 80% of my trucks towing limits... Gravity, it's a dammed thing!!!

Flat land towing, you can tow 100 of the trucks capacity and more.

dyno 07-10-2003 06:22 AM

I pull mine with a Chevy 2500 HD with a 6 litre pulls good!!!I have pulled it with the wifes 1/2 ton Tahoe not he best but it got the job done. Pulling it isnt the problem its stopping it! a set of 4:11 gears in a 1/2 ton go a long way!!!!

East Coast B 07-10-2003 10:51 AM

That 6.0 Chevy motor is one hell of a motor!!! My buddy pulls a 26' SeaRay, triaxle eagle trailer and carries every last thing you can think of on that boat. That 6.0 pulls it all over these hills... it's a bit slow on some, but it does the job very well....

I had a 99' Yukon.... it's more of a minivan feeling tow vehicle.... That boat pushed me all over the road.....

Dano 07-10-2003 11:28 AM

Clay,
Well this one has all that and more. However a 1/2 ton with the steel Myco won't tow it very well. Fully loaded w/trailer your probably closer to 9000lbs. The 2500 is the ticket for this set-up. If you go alum and low fuel the 1/2 tons work pretty good.

Dyno,
HIP TO THAT STOPPING THING! Tahoe went bye-bye...right after it almost took me bye-bye.

East Coast B,
Yeah gravity can definitely get in the way...(very nice pic in the other thread by the way!) The boat kinda towed me in that Tahoe...I had to rock myself back and forth to break the freakin' suction of my azzz.... stuck to the seat a few times.

Birdog,
Man you know how hard it was to get that rig up to that speed out on I-275 pulling it with a Porsche? The state police were impressed (hehe). You gonna be out this weekend? I still have that hub.( Maybe if I take that off I'll get that elusive 2mph!)

Oh and by the way... ANAL? Wasn't that you stopping every 5 miles to wipe down your trailer (come on now admit it!) on the way up to New Richmond ?

Clay Washington 07-10-2003 02:26 PM

Once the Crownline sells, I will sell my 1/2 ton Chevy Silverado.

Then I will buy a (used) 2500 and go Sonic shopping!

birdog 07-10-2003 04:06 PM

Ha ! You got me Dano !!:D :D
I hope to be out sun. If the dam river will give us a break !! {Don't want to ding up these new props ! }
I keep thinking i will run into you & get that hub........
I need to find Kentz also......he has another one !
Oh..BTW...If i do get out watch out for me...I am spinning in now !
have to learn to dock all over again !!!

Sydwayz 07-11-2003 08:43 AM

Dano/Kentz, can you get us some more pics please?

Dano 07-11-2003 09:47 AM

Oh no the "spin in" ....look out fellow boaters! Tried that a few times how do you like it?

Oh hell it's friday and I'm outta here...anybody going out this weekend? Come on ya' PANSIES let's go play...

Sydwayz,
What kinda pics ya' want?

Sydwayz 07-11-2003 10:47 AM

birdog 07-11-2003 12:07 PM

I will let ya know how i like it after Sun. !!! Mack turned his in +3.8 mph !!!! Can't let him get away !!!
Post up some picks of that bad ass Sonic !!!

dyno 07-15-2003 12:34 PM

Dano 07-15-2003 12:46 PM

More transom lift...generally faster especially on hulls like this. Downside is handling and manuvering. Birdog remind me to dock at the other end of the marina at the Poker Run...(hehe)

Guys - I have always run "in" don't know what handling issues your talking about, if you have driven the same boat both ways, I suppose you might notice a difference :D

ps. Now, I believe the following is correct, "In" drops the stern and raises the bow. Thinks about it, counterclockwise facing the stern tries to pull down the stern, out attempts to raise it. Oh. what do I know? I'll bring a hub for Birdog Sat............

birdog 07-16-2003 12:46 PM

I can feel the LOVE around here :D :D
Looks like I'm staying this week ! Don't think i will run in the Poker run....Can i buy a ticket for Sat night party ?
I am tryin for tonight on the river {Wed.}

GO4BROKE 07-16-2003 06:53 PM

Wow Dano! The more I see of that boat, the more I like it.

birdog 07-17-2003 07:10 AM

I ran a little with Dano last night, Let me tell you......Pictures do not do his boat justice !!!!!

Dano 07-17-2003 11:04 AM

Birdog,

Anybody can attend the party big boy! If you wanna slip for the nite let me know. You should consider running in it though...it is a great time.

Man it was good to see some go-fasters out last nite! Paul that cig is very, very nice one of the cleanest I've seen in a long time. Saw you running downtown with a Baja (Allen?) around 5ish looked and sounded great. That whiteout scheme is perfect...don't ever paint that boat!

That Douglas Skater didn't look like somebody to play with...man that thing sounded awesome. Saw it docked up at Rivertown with a Baja when we went in.

birdog 07-17-2003 12:51 PM

Thanks Dano !! I do love this boat !! Props spinning in SUCKED !
It wont happen again !:D
Dont think i'm going to run in it....I would love to come to the party & put some faces to some names...See ya Sat !!
Or....You going to be out Fri ?.....Sign4boat is coming up I may run around with him Fri.
