Speeds 31ss
 

Brother in-law looking at a 31ss, wanted to know the difference in the motor packages,(speed) he is trying to find a 96-97 with 502's, but the price goes up very quick from the 95-96 model years. Most of them have 454 magnums. So what are the numbers on the two different boats.

454 magnums mph ???
502 magnums mph???

454 mag 365's=68+mph gps
454 mag mpi=71 or 72
502 mag=75 to 77

While we are on this topic, I haven't seen anyone with a 31 with 496 HO's post a real gps speed yet - anyone???

from what ive heard the 31 with the 496 h0 is suppose to do 78-80 gps.


does anyone know what the 358 03-04 with 500hp with boxes is suppose to do?

78 - 80 is what they are saying with the HO's, but I find that hard to believe. :confused: I was wondering if anyone that actually has them can tell us what they have run.

Ours runs 69.2 with the Mags and I plan to have the props lab finished at merc this winter, hopefully this will give us 70 - 71. I really find it hard to believe that another 50 hp will net 10 mph. But my speeds are in fresh water.

OK I have a 1994 31ss with 330's on roids they make about 475 HP it runs 73.6 on GPS with a 2-3 foot chop it runs 70 on flat water. I'll believe it when I see it....496's and 80mph I doubt it....

Everytime I get close to WOT I get an evil look from my wife. She is not quite ready for it. However, I run 62 to 63MPH at 4000 RPM with 3/4 fuel, 4 people plus gear. I think 77 MPH is realistic number.

When we confirm I will post again.

The HO's depending on options....75-78MPH some a little more, some a little less. I've driven a few.
