Wow,
What a great weekend. I think a good time was had by everybody. Whether it was the bad weather forecast (fortunately wrong), or the economy/gas prices, the spectator and race boat count was down. But the enthusiasm of us die hards made up for it . The Poker Run participant count was up somewhat from last year. Congratulations Neil and Cindy for being the "1st" boat to the 1st card stop. Love those headsets! That's gonna cost me ............
A couple of quick observations. The sport is quickly becoming fragmented again among too many organizations (Miccosukie/the ONLY SV looked good, but had to race with the outboard cats, come on), and the MTI dominance of the cat classes is over. A Doug Wright won outboard, a Skater won SCL, and another Skater won SC. The Bud Select MTI SCX was beautiful and blazingly fast as usual, but also broke shortly into the race. They were the class of the fleet while running and in the pits, and very generous with some new Bud Select bling!
Thanks to Frankie and David Woods for your hospitality at Pier 57 and Freddie T's . Thanks Vence, Tracy and Butch for your help with the cabin and the boat, AND thank you Chris, for finding reverse.
Pictures to follow.
Regards,
Steve
