Sometimes when I have withdrawals from boating I write rock quarry on the wall of my garage.

Actually, we were following our fearless leader (Mr. Baldwinie) up Drake's Creek, missed a corner and slid up on the bank:eek: .

And I thought he knew this lake inside and out!?

Hey Steve, in the WKPA section there is a thread about an accident on (spelling?) Bisqa Bay this weekend. Lloyd Burns involved. Sad day.

Hey Steve, in the WKPA section there is a thread about an accident on (spelling?) Bisqa Bay this weekend. Lloyd Burns involved. Sad day.

Yes it is a sad day Rob. Lloyd was a great guy, and a good friend of mine and Eric's (Saloom). He owned a very nice dealership in Evansville, IN. Baja is their main line.
He had a really fast boat (a Triad), but one (the DR-20 model) that has seen it's share of blowovers, and that's evidently what happened to him last weekend while practicing at Pisgah Bay, where KDBA races on KY Lake.
I encouraged Eric to sell out when I did in 2003, because I knew the sport was in decline, and we were going so fast, one of us was going to get hurt eventually if we didn't. Since then, we have lost 2 friends:( .............
After last year's accident involving Bruce Gibson, it also should remind us that even though these Poker Run boats are bigger and heavier, and therefore safer than the potato chip drag boats we used to run, they are not immune to high speed accidents either. Please wear your life jackets and kill switches while running at high speed, and be careful out there everyone.
I don't want to lose any more friends...........
Regards,
Steve
