He had a really fast boat (a Triad), but one (the DR-20 model) that has seen it's share of blowovers, and that's evidently what happened to him last weekend while practicing at Pisgah Bay, where KDBA races on KY Lake.
I encouraged Eric to sell out when I did in 2003, because I knew the sport was in decline, and we were going so fast, one of us was going to get hurt eventually if we didn't. Since then, we have lost 2 friends
............. After last year's accident involving Bruce Gibson, it also should remind us that even though these Poker Run boats are bigger and heavier, and therefore safer than the potato chip drag boats we used to run, they are not immune to high speed accidents either. Please wear your life jackets and kill switches while running at high speed, and be careful out there everyone.
I don't want to lose any more friends...........
Regards,
Steve
