Wolf Creek Dam report on Channel 5
#1
Hi Guys,
I just caught an ad for a segment on Ch. 5's 6:00 tonight's (Monday 5-14) news where investigative reporter Nick Beres goes inside the dam with Corps of Engineer employees to see what's going on with the dam and lake level.
I was in Ky a couple of weeks ago, and there is some controversy over whether or not the lake should be lowered another 30 feet. The dock owners association, marine dealers, area hotels, and some of the surrounding towns are resisting it, obviously due to the economic impact on Lake Cumberland area.
Should be interesting.
Regards,
Steve

There was an hour interview on channel 5+ (Comcast ch 50) this morning with Lt. Col. Roemhildt, in charge of the dam and repairs.
The overview is the earthen and rock wing portions of the dam are leaking, not the main concrete structure (OK, so why wasn't it built out of concrete bank to bank to begin with, think Hoover DAM??).
Anyway, very low chance of failure, repairs are proceeding. Original time estimate was 7 years, more like 5 now. Still a long time without 76 Falls
.............
Part 2 detailing repairs on ch 5 tonight at 6:00.
