python boats

I was looking at this 24 Python last summer. Funny story on it. It was traded in on a bass boat at a local bass boat dealer. I was very interested, and then it disappeared from the lot.
I browsed the lot again early this summer, and it was back. They were just pulling it out to take it on a sea trial for the new "buyer".
New buyer turns out to be the husband/boyfriend of a gal that works for my wife.
Motor blew up on sea-trial. The guy passed on the deal.

This summer I found this 24 Pantera for sale (i'd been watching her for a while), and spent a few $$K less than what they wanted for the Python.
After crawling around in the bilges of both, I can certainly say the build quality is night/day. For the type of running you want to do, the Python may be just fine. I just wanted something that would be ready to handle Erie on a snotty day. I'd never even heard of Python before I saw the purple/gold one. At one time, there were a few guys splashing the 24/7 hull. Superboat, Pantera, P&D, Python are all similar 24/7's. BROWNIE here on the board has stated that the 24/7 originated from a 23 Magnum that was never built as a production boat. But, what does he know... J/K
I've been working on my boat, there's some pics in this thread.

A Pantera might be a little harder to find used, but I guess it depends on what you're looking for in a boat.

Yeah, I'd been watching my (now "my") boat change hands twice on this board, and it traveled cross-country twice now.
The 24 Pantera'a seem to get snatched up pretty fast. Just a few weeks ago somebody was wanting to sell one down in the Pantera board, and it's already on it's way to Europe somewhere
Good luck in your search - If I see anything out there I'll keep you in mind.

A good friend of mine in Alabama (Cathouse Performance Marine) owns a Python 18 (?). I think they were popped off the old Donzi Classic. He recently upgraded his HP a little. 358c.i., 250 B&M blower and a 125HP shot of nitrous. Clean little boat!
