Since your staying on the north end of the lake its pretty much open, but since your new probably need to stay in the channel. Lake Barkely is the worst if you go over there to Buzzard Rock stay in the channel.
But the hot spots are the rock quarry aka party cove, smith bay, the sands, and Buzzard rock its a marina/bar/grill. When you coming down? At the bottom of the forum is the wkpa area bunch of the locals chat there...
And remember the lake is in a dry county so if you drink bring beer, closest place is Paducah about a 30 min drive.

Ill be there aug 1st to 3rd. At as the locals say Bucanon Resort. Fat Daddys is another watering hole on the water. Just ask the locals on the water where the stops are. They will point you in the right direction.
