i heard a maybe for the poker or "fun run"

does anyone have any knowledge on how to have a poker run on texoma?? just curious?
I spoke with Casey Freeman from Legend Marine Group about the "Fun Run" and he said that yes is should happen. It in no way can be called a "poker run" for approval. It will be cash entry and winner take all. We all need to help support this so it brings the big guns to the lake. He also mentioned that Highport was fine with having everyone at the marine. The Fun Run will also be properly insured.

well i was thinking it would be nice to have a run for charity. i would love to see everyone get together to raise money for a good cause and it would seem to make a little more justifiable.

i personally have never won money at a poker run and really could care less if i do or not. but it would be nice to see everyone support a group like the special Olympics and maybe raise money to pay their way to go to the national championships?? i dont know? im just throwing out ideas but you would think as much money as half of us make we could think of a little better way to organize an event and make everyone (even the corp) happy!

besides i would even be willing to share seats on my boat to a few of the people we are helping to give them a new experience.

starting the boating season out in a positive direction sure could change a few peoples ideas about powerboating on texoma

just a thought....

Just an FYI - I've never been to a poker run on Texoma that hasn't benefited some sort of charity. The charity part is what make's it legal, or else its just illegal gambling.

andy tell me what charities benefited from the poker runs YOU have been on?

i attended flash gordons memorial poker run a couple of years ago on lake ouchita. im pretty sure a lot of the money went to a charity?? whoever put that event together was a great organizer. it was probably the best poker run ive seen yet and was extremely safe and everyone had a blast! the arkansas g&f and corp was supportive as well.

im not an attorney but i dont think a charity is what makes them legal????

do we have anyone who has organized an event before to give us some good insight on what is involved
