That seems like it would be a little easier commute than going to the San b! I saw on 2cool where they are doing construction on the locks at the brazos, might be something to check to make sure y'all will be able to get through. I will be at bridge bait about 830-9. Can't wait!:drink:

Good find, it looks like we'll be okay but we'll definitely want to check as the event gets closer. According to this link, they're not closing them on the weekends and it also doesn't show activity after Nov. 28 but then later mentions work will probably go into Feb???

http://www.swg.usace.army.mil/Locks/...LockStatus.asp

I think most our group is going to try and be in the water and leave Freeport around 11am. There's a lot of slower boat traffic that will be leaving at 9 which can make it hard to stay on plane. The ICW also isn't that wide so passing requires getting a little close to other boats while throwing a lot of wake their way. Cari already discussed this with Bill (one of the event organizers) and everyone agreed that this sounded like a good plan. I don't think we'll have any problems catching up with the pack!

I want to get down there early in case I have trouble launching I have time to run over to the other ramp. My trailer sucks and drags on every ramp so in case of a hangup, literally, I'll have time to run over and try the brazos ramp. Good website, I'll post it over on 2cool for bill and those guys to see.

bigjimtx 11-16-2011 08:40 PM

i talked to surfside marina today it 6.00 per foot for them to launch but the lady said they launch 42 ft trailer boats at bridge bait unless it real low tide i also talk to afreind who has a 38 fountain cc told my he launchs there alot going to be fun

PM me your phone number so we can catch up. Claudia may want to do this in our "new" center console! :drink:

Who's planning on doing the lighted boat parade?

rgrgoog 11-19-2011 04:24 PM

T-Rav I probably will. Just got to pick up some lights from walmart. I hear they throw beads to so I am going to get a bunch of them as well. It's my first year so I am going to try everything, at least that is the plan.

rgrgoog 11-19-2011 04:31 PM

The Lake Conroe Crew and I will meet at this ramp http://www.freeport.tx.us/docs/1-201...s_Brochure.pdf. You can also copy and paste these GPS coordinates into Google Maps so you can get directions: 28.956004,-95.361917

Cari said to be at the ramp in the water by NLT 1100 ready to go. Cari, will lead the Trucks and trailers to Bridge Bait and we (boats) will move down river to Bridge Bait to meet them there so you can pick the the rest of your crew up. We will then pick up the other Go-Fasts and begin the journey.

I'm thinking the same. Wanna try everything, if you want icicle lights measure out what you need, I might have enough for ya. We could trade lights for some beads maybe. Since your in the state to get them!. I will meet up with y'all at bridge bait, I shouldnt have a problem putting in there. Can't wait! Anyone know the best way to hook lights up? Power inverter maybe?

I am going to plug mine right in, but I have a couple of 120v outlets installed in my cabin. I would guess you need an inverter and then plug them in there or get some of these solar powered lights:

They make them with battery power as well.

Less than a week and I'm ready to go!!!

rgrgoog 11-28-2011 07:09 AM

Hopefully the weather report will get better throughout the week right now it calls for a possibility of rain on Sat and Storms on Sunday.

Just keep googling different weather sites until you find a forecast that you like! I've seen 10 - 20% chance on Sat and 20 - 30% on Sunday. I'm still searching for a site that shows no chance of rain. :lolhit:

Cari has several updates for the weekend that she will be posting shortly. Most of it is info that Bill passed along so I assume it's probably on 2coolfishing as well.

I've been watching 2cool, one guy put a picture up of a room full of toys! I hope the weather holds out, I really am not going to worry about rain until it gets to 60% chance! I hope my new prop gets here in time.

Did you give your crew count to Bill for the BBQ? There is also a Mexican place right there as well if you are interested.

T-RAV 11-28-2011 01:54 PM

Ya I gave it to him when he first sent the email out. Only thing I have to do is mail off the parade registration.

My issue is not with the rain it is with Lightning. As long as there is no lightning I am G2G. I have a bimini top and rain gear if I need it.

Don't worry about mailing the parade registration, the POC Chamber won't get it in time. Just hang on to it you can give it to Bill at the captains meeting.

Didn't anyone tell you bimini's and blowers don't go together! :angry-smiley-038: Kidding, you'll be the one laughing at us if it does rain and you have some shelter and we're getting drenched.

Ya he'll be laughing until that north wind rips his Bimini and he gets drenched! If it starts pouring my crew will run into the cabin and laugh at me the whole time!!

Thanks I will do that.

I think I'm going to bring a combination of my 4 wheeling and snow skiing gear...waders, rain jackets, goggles, facemasks, etc.

I will be bringing anything I have that's warm and keeps you dry! It will probably be camo based so it might be hard to see me!:lolhit:
On another note I just read about the toy run and light parade in dolphin talk, port O'Conner and seadrifts's leading newspaper! It was front page news should be a big weekend!

Don't follow me, I don't really know where I'm going. I just follow the ICW and then hope the red and green buoys are in the right spot when I cross the bay. Actually I think I've usually followed a couple of the faster fishing boats across on the way there and lucked out on the way back. I'm sure Boatman can put his trusty GPS on auto pilot and get us there though!

It's a really big deal there. I believe they've actually had news crews there in the past filming as boats re-enter the ICW from the bay coming into Port O'Connor. The town totally caters and appreciates this event. They'll have volunteers that will shuttle you around in their personal vehicles, etc. The fireworks show there last year was crazy and it was all done off the front of someone's boat!

Yeah I think I might just bring the rain suit and full face helmets. That way I can drop the hammer and beat the weather. I recently put a bigger chartplotter on my boat as well with the $400 G2 map upgrade, so You can follow me across the bay. I got a Garmin 521s. It is nice with the Blue chart G2 vision maps. The bimini was going to be for the boat parade in the event it is raining then.

They are saying no fireworks this year because of the burn ban. I remember reading about the run in dolphin talk last year which is what gave us the idea to do it. I am in seadrift every other day basically so I read that paper a lot.

Well I got 60 dozen Mardi Gras beads I will be bringing so if you need some beads for the parade I can probably hook you up. The LCPC members have first digs but after that I will give the rest out to whomever needs some to throw to the kids.

Cari said there were 9 folks on Facebook but they weren't all LCPC members and I don't think folks like Milstead were included in that count. I'm sure we'll have some folks drop out at the last minute but we should still have a nice group.

2 of those, Jenny Skiles and Charles Clifford will be riding on my boat.

The new boats in the water time for everyone going to the Freeport Municipal ramp is 0930. We will then go to Bridge Bait and leave there in our group by 1000.

See you there!!!

My boat - 30' Outlaw
Tom (Boatman) - 40' Outlaw
Jim - 29' Fountain
Travis - 25' Outlaw
Raleigh - 23' Outlaw
Scott - 38' Donzi
Milstead - 36' (maybe longer?) Skater
Alice - 24' H2X
BigJim - 33' Avance Center Console

We should run some of the way in the Gulf if the waves are not to big (6'+). I would love to open it up some out there in some 3-5 footers.
