Texas to Bimini - Summer 2012
 

There's a few here on Lake Travis interested. I would like to go again, but Nancy and I will not do it alone again, nor will it be so last minute.

So, we're trying to see if anyone out there wants to make this trip. We're pretty much open to any week this summer for now.

The plan would be to leave Austin on a Friday. Arrive in Ft Lauderdale on the following Saturday late afternoon. Then leave early in the morning either Sunday or Monday for Bimini. Come back from Bimini on Friday morning, load up and head home.

And, back in 2006, we did it with a few other boats (that thread is on TBM somewhere).

Had a great time both times.

Congrats on the boat. If you know of any other folks in the area that may be interested, tell them to get on here.

I'm still trying to round up a crew and more boats over here to try to make this happen.

If the weather is good, sure you can.... I know people that went across in some 21' & 23' Yamaha boats.

There are also some videos of a few guys that made the trip on jet skis.

A buddy of mine is doing it Solo in a 24 sundancer.... i need to go with him, but other trips in place, fun and work.....


but a word of advice i always hear its alot easier to cross in the first part of june.

Mike and Kim we are interested in going with you and Nancy as your crew or if we find a new toy we will come along side of you. We looked for you this weekend and never saw you two out in the cove. I have a lot of vacation that I need to burn this year.

We didn't make it out this past weekend. Got lazy and stayed on my dock drinking. We'll be out this weekend for the Poker Run though.

Your 271 will make it across no problem, as long as the weather is good. But, y'all are definitely welcome to ride along with us too if you don't want to take the formula and if you don't get a new boat.

I'm still trying to round up some folks so we can set a date. We'll talk this weekend.

Is that part of the FL Powerboaters Poker Run, or are you doing it solo?

Unfortunately it will probably be early to mid July before I can go.

Yeah, in the heat. Going with "Bimini fling". It's put on by the Bahamas. They meet you in Florida, and caravan to Bimini. Stay at big game club with slight discount. Then caravan you back. They have a few dates they do it. Google it and check it out.

Pretty sure my buddys is leaving out June 15th.

I'm sure she could do it but I don't think I'd do it. I know how bad it sucks trying to run back from galveston to clear lake after the wind has kicked up. Makes for a mad wife!!! Fun for me though!

We are leaving June 19th for Ft. luaderdale if weather looks good.
