Texas outlaw Challenge

I was wondering if anyone out there knows the dates yet for the 2014 Texas Outlaw Challenge?

Captain YARRR 11-27-2013 08:27 AM

Haven't heard anything yet...but can't come soon enough, I'm tired of this cold weather BS already :)

97FASTech 11-27-2013 10:35 AM

Found this, just don't know if it is accurate:

http://njpowerboat.com/events/texas-...-poker-run-tx/

Jfoster 11-27-2013 03:18 PM

ok thanks for the information

97FASTech 11-28-2013 02:23 PM

After looking at the 2014 calender, these are the same dates as 2013, which were Thur - Sun. These new dates labeled 2014 are Fri - Mon, something is off here. Would not trust these posted dates as of yet. Best bet would be 19 - 22 June, stay tuned.

97FASTech 11-28-2013 02:37 PM

Sent a few emails from last years contacts, so keep checking thread.

Jfoster 11-28-2013 05:08 PM

Ok thanks.

This looks like a great weekend! Looking forward to learning more about it.

And what is up with this weather down here, thought we could boat all season. :party-smiley-004: :lolhit:

Welcome to SE Texas!!!:coolcowboy:
Glad y'all made it with no more issues than finding boat storage.
I got a great laugh at your comment coming from a relocated midwesterner.
Trust me, you'll be a true Texan soon!!!

See ya,
Kelly

Yeah, about not having anymore issues.:hothead:

Lets just say I am still paying for dry rack storage in STL, paying for a storage unit in HOU, my truck is still in STL waiting to pull the boat down south, had to buy my wife a last minute airline ticket to fly home last weekend all because "something" was only going to take 3-3.5 weeks to build starting the 2nd of October. 7.5 weeks later the boat did not sit on the trailer correctly, the wheels were yellow, paint was chipping after just the delivery, bow stop didn't fit the boat, the steps were in the radius of the bumper and now we are going 9 weeks later with our closing happening the week of the 10th and the truck/boat are still not in Texas. But I digress.

Then, when I put the key into the door at our corporate housing place it just opened... only to find that it had been kicked in. Nothing like having the Houston PD in your place within the first hour of our arrival. :angry-smiley-038:

But other than all this no other issues and things can only get better! Right? :lolhit:

I don't think we will have any problems becoming Texans, spent the day in Galveston this weekend and drove around Clear Lake. I told my wife if we are not going to have snow anymore then Palm Trees will work for me.

:lolhit:

T-RAV 12-01-2013 10:33 AM

Man sorry to hear about the break in and that sucks to hear about the manning. Hope your only problem from here on out is picking out which Palm trees you want!!! And the winter weather sucks here!! A lot of warm then cold then warm. We usually don't boat late dec/jan/early feb. Usually start getting some decent weather late February.

We're all glad y'all came here to join us.
What great Thanksgiving weekend weather we all enjoyed!!! It would have been awesome to be on the island.
After T-day the kids and their families spent the past few days at the fish shack in Sargent while Mom and I hung out by the pool.
Just so as not to totally hijack the thread I got you some pic's to show your friends back home, you'll see lots of this when you attend the event this year.
Nothing beats SE Texas, great weather, palm trees, swimming pools, and lots of boating potential.

Heck if the water wasn't so cold I'd of been fetchin' balls out of the pool with my labs. LOL !!!

See ya,

We are looking very much forward to the Texas Outlaw Challenge this year; poker runs and pool parties, what more could someone ask for.

T-RAV 12-02-2013 03:13 PM

Pretty sure the run will be June 19-22.

Jfoster 12-02-2013 03:50 PM

That what I was thinking. I hope that's right that when I took off work. This will be the first Poker run for me to be at I looking forward to going.

Yes, heard back from one of the contacts last year. 19 - 22 June.

TW720HVY 12-03-2013 03:42 PM

Is the poker run usually the first day?

It's thurs-sun. Thursday is registration, rides for youth groups etc. Friday is 100+ shoot out and pool party. Saturday is the actual poker run, and Sunday is another party. I have yet to do it but planning on making it this year. I think it would be cool if the did like a fun run raft up on Sunday. Maybe like to offats or up the river.

firehill19 12-03-2013 08:11 PM

We did it on friends boat and will have to say, one of the best times we have had. Actually, Friday's pool party is the first stop of the poker run and the only stop on Friday. Its definitely one you don't won't to miss. Cruise up Dickison Bayou with 100+ other boats to Armstrongs house. Unbelievable:
http://i56.photobucket.com/albums/g1...s/IMG_1455.jpg

And the pool party on Saturday at Harborwalk near Galveston:

TW720HVY 12-04-2013 11:41 AM

So the run starts in Clear Lake and goes down to Harborwalk. About how many miles is that?

Not sure on miles but i'm thinking it took us close to an hour running back from Harborwalk probably running 60-70 with a few slow downs along the way. Harborwalk is on the other side of the I-45 bridge that goes into Galveston. There are 11 stops total and your required to do at least 5, with the stops on Galveston Bay recommended for boats 25 ft and above. And yes the Captains meeting and first stop on Saturday is Endevour Marina. Here's the website but not updated to 2014 yet: Texas Outlaw Challenge

TW720HVY 12-04-2013 03:21 PM

Does Endevour Marina have weekend storage for the event? I am thinking the boat ramps will be packed.

Jfoster 12-04-2013 04:19 PM

I was wonder the same thing is there a place that people leave there boats over night for the event or do most just put it back on the trailer each night.

Captain YARRR 12-04-2013 05:30 PM

We will probably get a slip...just makes it so much easier.

firehill19 12-04-2013 08:18 PM

We were docked at Endevour dock for the weekend but I didn't handle it so don't know how it works. Endevour does have a lot next to the activities where a lot of trailers were and boats on trailers.

Welcome!! I hope to meet you. Please look into our several fine boating clubs in Houston area starting with TOPPS Clear Lake. If you see this in time we are meeting tonight at 7PM at the Turtle Club in Clear Lake. The website is under construction. There is also "The Boat Club" of Clear Lake, www.boatersclub.org. And in Conroe we also have TOPPS, www.topps-lakeconroe.com. Again, welcome and don't get too anxious the high humidity we have causes a penetrating wet cold that makes it hard for me to do much boating before late March or April. Again, Welcome!!

Most of the smaller boats and some bigger ones went in/out every day.

I am very interested in joining the TOPPS Clear Lake, sorry I missed the meeting tonight. If you don't mind can you forward me the upcoming schedule? Our boat should be here next weekend if all goes well and we are looking forward to making new friends.

I have been interested in this too. Could you send me the upcoming schedule also? I have been into outboard drag boat racing for years and now want to try something a little different since I bought my 30 Spectre

Make sure and like the TOPPS Facebook page. It is updated more than the website. I will try and post the date for our first meeting for 2014. Normally regular meetings are held at the Turtle Club.

There are a LOT of in-water as well as dry storage options in the area.

Big Block 12-25-2013 01:18 PM

On the racks?? If that's the case they were giving u the run around!! My buddy keeps his 36 nortech cat there and I think big bad wolf is there as well!

Big Block 12-26-2013 09:32 AM

I wanted to keep it there inside for the summer. I thought it was odd they told me that.

TW720HVY 01-23-2014 12:15 PM

Maybe this guy could get hired for the upcoming event? The event seems to be right up his alley. :evilb::evilb:

http://youtu.be/KtiDPmjde94 Just thinking out loud.

foosdaddy 01-23-2014 04:25 PM

Looking through last year's event format & rules I didn't see where they have a minimum age requirement for the gunslinger poker run.

Anyone know of a minimum age limit to ride or participate? I have an 18yr old that will graduate in June and I would like to have ride with me.

Captain YARRR 01-24-2014 07:21 AM

I think you would be fine. I saw some kids around that age. As long as they don't act like fools I bet nobody would raise an issue.

36baja 01-25-2014 10:47 AM

Our first Topps meeting is sometime in Feb but we have a new President and board members so maybe Feb or first of March

All times are GMT -5. The time now is 03:04 AM.
