We hit Allatoona occasionally for a day trip in the middle of the week...we forget about weekends...too crowded! We are thinking about renting on the lake for a week in the near future even though we only live 40 miles away! We usually do Hartwell but it is suffering. :(

fishead 06-27-2008 12:54 PM

I dont think we are going to do anything close to a 38. I am going to be interested in a little river hot rod.

I might have something for you! I just drug an 05 Sunsation 288 home today! :D I have a Pachanga 22 about to come out of the shop after having tabs and full hydraulic steering put on it. 50 hours on a 454 built for a procharger with a procharger. Has no problems with the bass boats with their big beaters hangin off the back! :D

We keep our fishing boat at Glade but still trailer the Apache. Pic is at the Glade breakwater looking towards Allatoona Landing.
We just finished the Apache after working on it for 4 years. Bought it in Texas and was working offshore in the Gulf living in S. Louisiana at the time. We moved up here a couple of years ago and slowly worked on it.
I work part time at Boaters World in Smyrna and ran into a guy I had not seen in 17 years. Matt with the 29 Fountain "Hillbilly Deluxe". He basicly called me a puss and told me to quit detailing it with gadgets and run the dam thing.
Good Advice!!
We run on Sundays, usually trying a different prop every time.
Anyway if your out on a Sunday we usually make a pass through Illinois Creek and head back south closer to the marina later in the day.
Anyone get into a bind and need a tow or something don't hesitate to call.

Pachanga,
Welcome to the Sunsation family:ernaehrung004:

I was up in that area visiting customers last week and got to see Allatoona, looks like a great place to boat. I told my wife we need to look at making a weekend trip up that way to try it out. Is there much around there to do of the lake?

pachanga 07-16-2008 03:30 PM

Thanks for the welcome! I am sure there is plenty to do off the lake. We usually just make a day trip to Allatoona during the middle of the week. I'm pretty sure Allatoona is a madhouse on the weekends with Lake Lanier being so low. Surely some of the guys who frequent Allatoona more will chime in! We are thinking about renting a place for a week up there in the near future. That's kindda our boating style...I prefer Lake Hartwell but it is getting pretty low as well. :( While on that...does anyone boat on Lake Westpoint? It's staying pretty near full pool. If so, what's the lake like?

We went to west point ONCE!. and we swore to never go back. Its a great place if you are a fisherman but there is nothing going on and we were the only power boat on the lake that weekend. its also very nasty since its below atlanta. they say not to eat the fish out of west point so............... we will be at allatoona all weekend, we have a cabin rented at harbor town so if any body is out look for us in the eliminator or stop by the harbor town dock.

texaschopper 07-18-2008 04:08 PM

I was just out behind my house, and the lake looks to be down about about 2 feet.

texaschopper 07-27-2008 08:57 AM

Ramp elevation chart.
http://allatoona.sam.usace.army.mil/...elevations.htm
Lake is at 833ft. so we have a few more weekends! All winter at Blockhouse left ramp.

Saw a few of ya'll weekend before last on Sunday 10-5 when we made a pass through the creek in our fish boat.
We will be running the Apache this Sunday.

texaschopper 01-06-2009 03:11 PM

I went down to look at the lake after all this rain, and

The water is way up, and there is a very strong current coming down the river. I was really surprised about how many large branches and big dead tress are floating down into the lake as well.

JnT 01-10-2009 07:02 PM

My family is looking for a pontoon in the 5-9k range if anyone has a lead.
