Thanks for the info. I don't want to worry about shallowness and problems if I can avoid in an unfamiliar territory. You are right, I think I will also avoid Miami. If forking is that much, I will do my own launching. Things in your neck are more expensive for stuff like that.
I noticed your name chevelle71? Anything to do with 71 Chevelles? had a '71 that I started a frame off on, then got divorced, got into boats and sold the car 1/2 finished, wish I still had it. Like I said, I am not sure on the price, you would have to check, its been a while, and I was a marina member when I did it, so I didnt pay. The other advantage of trailering is fuel price. If boca resort will let you store the trailer, that is the way to go though, you will have a nice ride up the ICW from the pompano ramp, give yourself about an hour to get up there with no-wake zones, but in the summer you can run 30-35 through most of the areas. Boca inlet is right across the ICW from Boca resort, so if you have decent weather, running north to Peanut island is only about a 45 minute ride(including inlets), and Miami would be about an hour(depending on how hard you run). Not a whole lot to see along the ICW in either direction, unless ya just want to look at big houses, or stop at all of the Bar/Restaurants, in which case let me know, and we'll start up a list of those for ya:drink: I hope to have my boat back together by then, so keep in touch, maybe we can meet up. Silver Palm Park is the city boat ramp and is 200 ft. north of the Boca Resort's north gate at the base of the ICW/Palmetto Park bridge. It is a city ramp so without a permit they won't let you park but if you have parking at the resort then it isn't an issue. Weekend mornings/early afternoon are when the park rangers are working so launch outside of their hours and you could probably get away parking there as well.
Deerfield has city ramps just 1/3 mile west of Marina One off Dixie Highway but the neighborhood is definitely not an "overnight" location. Daytime is fine but in the dark is another story. Also don't try cutting across Lake Boca, it can be knee deep in the middle! The perimeter is deep but the center isn't! :D |

Rick I was out of town, up in NC skiing last week. (Absolutely great conditions, then rain and warm -headed home) I have an eye for muscle "Chevelle". I have a frame-on restored '67 Corvette - 327, 4spd, black on black coupe, every option. Sits in garage most of the time. Driven 5 - 600 miles per year. Thanks for all the launch info. I will check it all out. We usually like cruising down the ICW looking at all the sights, houses, boats etc and doing a little exploring. We might take a whole day cruising down to Miami area on the inside, then coming back on the outside etc. Not much for visiting other beaches as we live in St. Pete, excellent beaches here. We are also thinking about a trip in May/June down to the Keys. We usually go down to Marathon and do some Hooka diving / snorkeling on the reefs. In the past, I took a 23' Hydrasports Walkaround outboard for that trip, but sold it. Now looking for a good ramp for my 336 Formula in that area. If I can't find a decent ramp, I will have to fork it there. Thanks again. Bill |
