Can anyone help me i live in Orlando, but do most of my boating in Daytona, My mechanic says the best thing and pretty much only thing for my boat is NON-ethanol 93 octane fuel. The bad thing is I cant find it ANYWHERE. I have twin 502s with superchargers making about 700hp. Is anyone else having a problem with their blower motors?

Good luck! I tried to find it also. It is federal metropolis type law that has to do with population, and so-on that requires them the fuel distributors to add up to ten percent. I did find 89 octane no ethanol at a marina 90 miles from my house. Marinas are your best bet they can get it but most don't want the hassles of dealing with it. You can get unleaded racing fuel at $400.00 plus a 55 gal. a drum and blend it.

Glover Oil in Melbourne, FL has it. There may also be some marinas along the Indian River that has it.

Stay away from Gilberts for fuel.

Ethanol actually boost the octane level almost 2 percent. It is a dry component. I personally run Chevron Premuim Grade with ethanol and havent had any issues with my 454's. 2 and 4 stroke motors have alot of problems with them so alot of marinas carry them for the outboard units. Anyone else got any comments on why ethanol is bad for regular inboard motors?

Why stay away from gilberts. Really there is not much of a choice. Any other suggestions

I live on Blackwater sound in Key Largo and know that they have problems with separration in the fuel this winter. Just were not able to sell it fast enough. A nother option is the marina next to the marriot. They have brand new tanks.

You are correct that adding ethanol to gas does increase the octane. Now, my Mercury manual says to run 87 octane. Which I do. Because the higher octanes just seem to soot up the transom. At the end of last year we topped off the tank, the usaual 87 octane. the boat ran flawess all year. Now I have a boat full of junk gas, the refineries also know that adding ethanol raises the octane. So not always are they producing true 87 octane. I have checked the specific gravity (extremely low) the ethanol is tapped out at 10% the legal limit. I talked to many in the gas industry. I will go with 89 to 93 from now on. I found 89 non ethanol at a marina, I used it for winterizing the engines idled better than ever and the throttle response was also much bettr.
