For the first time we are having our Formula 400SS hauled from MN to Naples for the winter. We plan to spend a long weekend once or twice a month in FL. Over Thanksgiving we are meeting friends at South Sea Resort and we have plans to run down to Key West in February but we don't have any other firm plans. Any suggestions on other good destinations? Resorts or rentals with appropriate dockage are best since we will generally have friends or family along.
Thanks,
Jim

i live in naples and in september went down to the dry tortugas for the first time , absolutely awesome . But there are no marinas or facilities . it is a 125 mile run from naples , but only 65 from key west.
also consider a trip to shark river , it is in the heart of the everglades just above Flamingo , great fishing and only about 70 miles from naples.
where are you keeping your boat while your here ? i have a few friends with 370ss , maybe we could all get together sometime.

Thanks for the ideas. We've been down a couple of times now and love it. It gets harder to go home each time.
We're keeping our boat at Hamilton Harbor. So far it's been great. Where do you keep your 400?
I'll definitely let you know next time we are in the area.

Whatta life, How is your 400SS handle the atlantic? I live in Chicago and want a 400SS diesel and keep in/around Prot Canaveral, Will be down end of March for sprig break and will be looking for dry dock marinas and locations. Lake Mich is not the same as ocean, We do have our waves though. thanks

I just got back from a guy's weekend in Key West. We ran down from Naples on Friday. We made the 100 mile trip in about 2 hours and 20 minutes including a couple of short stops to switch drivers and grab a beer. The gulf was smooth and 400 was perfect. It was hard to keep it below 60. That's the good news. The bad news is we burned $550 worth of gas.
The trip back on Tuesday morning wasn't as fun. It was suppose to be 2-4 ft seas but the first 50 miles were easily 4 ft and greater. And coming from both the NW and NE. The 400 is good in rough water but it still makes for a punishing trip and another $500+ gas bill. The computer said .8 miles to the gallon.
Diesels would be great for range but I'd hate to miss out on all the fun to be had between 45 and 62 mph.
