Lake Lanier Islands is the resort. Plenty of great places all around the lake though.

The resort is top notch but can be pricey. Good ramps and marinas all around that have decent hotels nearby. The kids will love all the resort stuff though.

I lived on the lake for 3 years and they remodeled the island after we moved. I've been back numerous times since the move. The resort and the entire island had a serious upgrade. Anybody will tell you it is totally worth the trip. Great lake for a weekend and exploring. Good restaurants on the south end and a couple locals type places on the Gainesville/Northern end.
