Default Survey - purchasing formula

Hello,

Newbie here, I am looking to possibly purchase a Formula 271 or 252 footer. I have been hearing alot about surveys. Is it worth the purchase? What is typically included in a survey.
I am very mechanical and can survey the motor just as good as any surveyor (if they even do that).

What should I expect if I purchase this and and is it even worth it.

Thanks

Many surveyors are what I would call a "performance tester" as they just look at things with a visual inspection and then run the craft through all the paces. While this will tell a great deal about a caft and a good knowledgeable interpretation of all the data is a huge help, it doesn't give the technical details that you might need for insurance or repairs. Some surveyors will offer technical details of engine, drive system and hull details but you have to find them and it all comes at a price. You should ask any surveyor what they offer and listen closely to what they describe to know if what they offer is what you are looking for. If you are technically inclined, as you described, then you are looking for more info than some surveyors can give as a performance tester.

Looking for a surveyor was a pain for me since I needed technical data of all systems and many I called on don't do that.
Good luck in your search.
