Say hello to the Deviant
OK well we don't have the boat just yet but I'm told we're getting close so wanted to share a few pics of the boat and hopefully keep this thread up with more as we enjoy the boat.
We fell in love with it at the Miami boat show (AKA the devil) and have been working on getting it ever since. So several trips to the factory and a ton of phone calls and texts later here's where we are. Molds being prepped http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n.../moldhull3.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n.../moldhull2.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n.../molddeck2.jpg http://i109.photobucket.com/albums/n.../molddeck1.jpg More to come... |

mlb75, your boat looks great, we were at the factory may 12-13
checking out our build, and I saw your boat being built. a couple of photos of your boat. |
Great Pics. I love the large GPS. Where are you going to put the radio

If you like it I can have the local canvas guy make a duplicate, it holds at speeds other biminis have nightmares about!

Superbabi, thanks for the extra pics I just can't get enough of the entire process. If I could have swung it I would have taken the last month off and lived there to see it all (assuming John wouldn't have run me off for making to many changes)
FullAuto, yep it ought to look something like that VERY soon. Main differences will be no rail on the bow and no cleats on the boat. I've gone with push pin's for both fenders and lines. Seeing those pics makes the wait so much tougher though... Tax man, thanks I also love the huge GPS. I wanted the larger display since I plan to use it to display the engine data as well as chart plotter info all the time and didn't want either to be to small to be functional. To make that work I'll be putting the MercMonitor gauge to the right of the Garmin where the speedo would normally go, and will have another GPS speedo in the rear of the center console. As for the radio if you notice the first picture in post three that is one of the new gunnel inserts (the port to be specific) and the radio head unit will be mounted in the front of the starboard insert with a fully functional remote mounted in both the port insert (for the passenger to be able to control the stereo) as well as another remote mounted near the transom on the starboard side on what I'll call the hull extension beside the motor (to be able to control the stereo when everyone is in the water.) The stereo may be big enough to require a third motor but hey that doesn't sound like a bad thing does it? Hopefully I'll have a few more pics soon since I spoke to John earlier and he said we were getting close. |
A few more shots of it coming together;

We'll be down at the factory the end of this week for acceptance trials and hopefully home with it for the weekend. More to pics to come along with more build details once we've got it in hand... |
is that the new 328? The wider one they are supposably building
|
Not sure if it's truly a new hull design but I do know the beam is 9'. I understand the model is referred to as the 328 though I don't know if that's to indicate it's 8" wider than previous models like the Skaters or if it's just a new designation to differentiate it from the center consoles. The tunnel width I believe is 40" if that helps.

Just a observation...are the motors mounted correctly?
|
hmm
That's something you don't want to be wrong

How did the performance change when you swapped power? Did you take out the center section from the triple days? Looks great, sorry I missed it when it was for sale.

So you went from trip 250's to twin 300's right? Not that I ought to be thinking of it already but I'm considering adding a third 300 in a year or so and would love to hear your opinions of both setups.
|
oh and as for are the motors mounted correctly, are you serious??? If you're going to make a statement like that you better give me an example of what you think is wrong otherwise it just looks like sour grapes.
I'm not trying to be a d!ck I'm just saying lets be constructive. Now if you honestly see something I need to be aware of I'd be MORE than glad to hear about it |
Looks great!

Originally I was going to put a new 300 in the center because the boat is all set up for tripples, but after talking to jay I decided to skip the center engine. Jay could have made plenty of money off of me by selling me that center engine, but he knew it would be nothing but a bunch of problems and advised against it. I have to respect that. |
If you are serious about putting a center engine on your boat later there are things that should be done while the boat is being built, like reinforcing the transom, the small pod in the tunnel and a few other things.
|
I don't see anything wrong with the engine placement, but I'm not the guy that designed your boat. Even the smallest mistep in that area can be a disaster for water pressure, gearcase life, steering, ect. You can call Jay and talk to him about it, If there is something wrong he will tell you. I will try to find some picks of the stuff on my boat that was put there for the center engine.

See the bracket in the top left corner of the pic? the bolts for the center engine run through that, you will probably need them for a center engine. |

Throttles and trim switch, you will also need the switch plate that has a place for the third key. |
