trailering a 288 w/ factory cockpit cover ??

I always trailer the boat with the cockpit cover off, I'm afraid it will flap and scuff up the painted fairing and fairing sides.

I need to take the boat to PA next week and really don't want all the salt dust and road grime on my upholstery...

So who trailers with their covers on ?? any problems ?? poles in or out ???

Shrinkwrap it. At least from the rubrail up. Worth the money.

I Trailer with mine on, and a buddy with a 32 Sun trailers with his on as well. We go 5 hours south to LOTO 3 to 5 times a year, and every weekend about 50 miles one way. He does use his pole.
Good luck.

Rick.

Be sure to rinse your trailer when finished, I towed my 25 Outlaw from Chicago to St. Louis last February and didn't realize the results of road salt.

trailer is alum. so I am not too worried about that, just don't want all the salt dust and stuff all over the inside of the cockpit, but I also don't want to chafe the fairing. For the guys that have towed with the cockpit cover on,,, do they flap around at all or has everything held up o.k. ??

Just make sure you have it VERY tight by using the center poles. It will move around a little no matter what but the tighter the less moving. If you can, shrink wrap like Chest said.

The factory guy who trailers them all the way to the west coast leaves the cockpit covers on. He does not leave the bow cover on. He tapes all the way around the cover with the same tape that is used for shrink wrapping. That tape will not leave residue on the cover or glass. That keeps all the air out which keeps the movement down. Also use the poles.

I've towed my 32 that way and had no problems. It is easier taking 10 minutes to tape it than 2 hours to clean the interior.
