My 99' had about 600HP and was the same hull design as the 2002. My best was 79 but it was an everyday 74 - 75 MPH boat. I also had a 28 Lab BravoI from B-Blades.

I was thinking a 525 equipped 288 would run 80 all day....

Is this not the case, even with the new hull designs, 05 and up right??

Edit: Sorry Juniper guess that question was redundant since you just stated to the contrary. I was just thinkin they would be faster.

A new S-line 288 w/525 might run 80......they put a very basic cabin in those and shave all the weight they can out of that trim level. It also has a very high X dimension.

Those numbers sound pretty generous... but then again I don't own one so I don't have any seat time... just observations

Actually those #'s are on the light side. With good conditions the later model hull designs saw 71-72 and 70 all day GPS with an 08 288 HO and my buddies 09 288 525 saw 77 -78 and 76 all day .

fireguy 07-16-2010 09:35 PM

My buddies '05 288 with a 496 HO and headers (lightning I think) runs 70 on GPS. Turning a 26P 4 blade at 5000 rpm.

AJ POWERPLAY 07-17-2010 03:26 AM

The new hull design was introduced in '05 wasn't it? I was under the impression we were referring to the old hull. Very nice boats none the less... my good buddy just picked up an 03 288 with 496HO and labbed 24bravo... we haven't had a chance to take it out yet tho. Got him aboard the forum he's THE 288 KID give him a warm welcome to the sunsation family haha :coolcowboy:

05 and newer had a full step, prior to that it was a partial step. Boat weighs 4500 lbs dry either way.

agreed... should make for some sweet video footage. May wana tell these guys about the meet up in the D for any of them that aren't on the other forum

MIlander 07-20-2010 08:43 PM

my 09 288s with 525 Raylar and CMI exhaust will run 80
I have seen 82.4 GPS on a windy day

eagledm44 08-02-2010 08:40 PM

I have a 288 ssr that runs 80 on gps. When I had the 3.3 whipple she ran 93. I was only able to test it becuase I leaned it out and burned the pistons.

eagledm44 08-02-2010 08:41 PM

If you use a mapped computer from whipple the 288 will run 5700 with a labbbed 29 bravo one at 82 to 83

eagledm44 08-16-2010 01:52 PM

the 525 efi on a 288 MCOB SSR pushes it a solid 79 all day with a 29 labbed.
