Good point, my boat will kick his powerquest ass in rough water. Pretty easy to win when the other guy can't even get on plane! Lmfao I forgot all about that on lake Michigan.

I have a 288 with a 525 and have no problem running in the rough. I boat in long island sound which is always rough. I think the boat handles great. If you are flying out to much its the way your drive is set with trim. mahopac marine sells alot of these 288 and runs them all the time. I will run mine in the rough and be right with the 32 with 496 for power. The 32 is faster but i think the 288 if you like single engine is the way to go.

i also had awhipple on my old 525 engine and the boat ran 93 on gps with Mahopac Marine. It handled great and ran very stable. Not a bad combination if you want more speed.
