no... last weekends kinda still hanging around I think :lolhit:
Had a relatively quite one. My son, one of his friends, my girlfriend, and her sister from Alabama and I did a local poker run on sat, pretty laid back after that. Had some friends over and boiled a few lbs of crawfish on sunday. |

LA what kind of speed do you think I will run. Twin 496HO's and 30's stock 4 blade props. No fridge/ac. jsut beer:eek:. I will send my computer out for re-mapping to get alittle extra as I am sure there are de-tuned from factory.:drink:

I saw just a tad over 80 with my 30p props.. bout a 1/2 tank of fuel, anchor...life jackets, same as you on the inside (no frills) and proly relatively close on the beer weight too:drink: I am stock all the way right now. The GPS did have 82.9 as max speed when I got the boat with 32hrs on it which I'm sure I could duplicate in the right conditions and unload the boat of unneeded gear and beer:grinser010:. I'm able to do 76-78 wot as an everyday # stock with a couple people and their beer and chit too:drink:, but you do some work and 82-85 shouldn't be an impossibility. I think a re-map and prop work would do those #'s no problem!!!!:coolcowboy:

I think this may be slightly on the low side. You guy's should see no issue running low 80's all day long in your boats.

He is very meticulous in what he does and has to turn people away. He has all the updated programming. He tunes it to be very reliable in turn giving more torque/hp. I will let you know how it turns out. From the factory they are de tuned and there is some play in them however you still want the reliablity of it also.Everything from air/fuel,iac count etc is monitored for best overall performance. This is where he comes in:drink: By the way beautiful looking boat:ernaehrung004:

Is he raising the rev limiter? If not, I don't see you gaining much from the programming. Obviously he will be rolling more timing into it and leaning it out (only way to gain more HP) so what octane gas will you have to run?

Even the kid would like to send his up aswell!

I have read and heard that is not a indication that your boat is running at peak performance and "most" pros say not to use the rev limiter as a tool for "running right on the money" I need to get out and test for RPM ranges and see if I can get set up with some props for better cruise and fuel use. Once the rain stops....

You do not want to be banging off the rev limiter as it is hard on the crankshaft (due to the harmonics).

Never knew why but that makes alot of sense, but alot of "offshore guy's" use this as a "sweet spot" for props:eek:

I prop my boat to where if it is just me, no gear, low fuel, perfect temp/humidity, and perfect water conditions, I can hit the limiter. That way under normal load and summer weather conditions I am right at the upper recommended RPM limit for the motor. Take a 496 MAG for instance. Rev limiter is at 4950. Merc lists the RPM limit at 4800. These motors have been dyno'd by numerous shops and make their peak HP at about 4.700 RPM. So, you can spin the motor to 4,950 but you are falling off the peak HP once you spin past 4,700. The motor just runs out of camshaft. More RPM should always equate to more speed but at a certain point if the HP starts to significantly drop off at that higher RPM you may not see any additional speed.
That is the proper way to test a boat. I was told this right from Mercury Racing. _______________________________________ AKA Tom from Mahopac |

Thanks guys, boat ran great. Still learning the twin engine deal:eek:So far I learnt you should use the drive buttons on the dash to trim all the way in when taking off out of the hole and the rest is on the throttle lever. I take you can trim all the way up at wide open throttle and this is the desired trim for the boat at this boat. I am not sure how do you guys operate. Do you tweek it with the dash buttons to over ride the safety or not:party-smiley-004:
|
The trim on the throttle is set for a max amount of trim you should never need anymore than than when trying to get every MPH out of it. The dash buttone should be used for parking or trailering. When getting on plane I leave the drives tucked in (all the way down). Man I love the paint on your boat. Oh yeah if you use the buttone to override the trim on the throttles you will only lose speed and risk meesing up your U joints.

I learned the same thing the first time out with mine as far as trimming all the way in with the dash mount switches to get on plane....and always tuck them all the way back in before taking off again :grinser010: I can over trim and loose MPH with the throttle switches...just keep an eye on your gps speed and play around with it as you get use to the boat... I did pick up a little more MPH by adjusting each outdrive separately just a liiiiittttle bit. Can anyone tell me how to adjust my trim gauges???? one of mine is allllllll the way up and will not return to the tucked in position!:angry-smiley-038:
