Default 288 MCOB ...Bi Fold Door issue

The bi fold door on our 288 MCOB needs some fixing. The screws are coming out on the bi fold section. The screws go into plastic and will not tighten up. I'm trying teflon tape to help make the screws bite but wondering if anyone has a better solution?

Whoosh ....the sounds of that reply going right over my head. Not familiar with 3m 5200.

edit to add
I googled it and found out it's an adhesive sealant. I've also read of some making new threads in plastic using Epoxy. I would think the epoxy would hold better than the 3m ....

The screws for this bi fold are really short, so that tey don't go through the door. Here is the you tube epoxy way to create new threads. Interesting. Think I'm going to give it a shot.

I never liked that door on the front of the mid-cabin. If I ever get another one I would just remove the door completely and if I needed weather protection I would install a snap on cover over the outside of the doorway.

Good idea. My main issue with that solution is that one could not snap the cover shut from inside the cabin, or it would be awkward to snap from inside.

If this epoxy solution does not work (I'm letting it cure for a few days before attaching) I'm considering small screws with nuts and washers. I'd drill through the door and fasten em that way. That will be my last resort. I'm surprised no one else has had issues with these bi fold doors.

I think you could snap the cover easily with the exception of the last couple, start at the bottom and snap around the opening.....the last 2-3 snaps would be left undone. I wouldn't think it is a big deal to walk over the midcabin if you chose to snap them all from the outside. If your boat is an 03 then it took 12 years to have door issues, mine was in trouble in less than 5 years!

Probably fixed the issue already but........
I have fixed many stripped threads before with toothpicks. Decent toothpicks are made from bamboo which does not absorb moisture. Hold the door and hinges in place, stick 3 of them into the hole then jam the screw into the middle of the 3 and screw it up tight. Break off the ends which are left sticking out and trim any left-over with a blade. Not sure how deep the hole is you are working with but toothpicks cost nothing, require no real work or drilling and can be removed anytime if necessary.
