Default 2005 Dominator 525 EFI's IMCO -2" Lowers WHAT PROPS??

New boat to me. the lowers presently have 1" drop extensions that lower them back down, that are being removed tomorrow. would like to see Wayne or Joe chime in as im sure they've tried every set-up imaginable, but i have 32 bravo props and can only pull 4600 RPM and 80 MPH. Previous owner claimed he lost 8 MPH by adding the spacers, but had a hard time getting on plane as he always had a boat load of people on board. WHAT PROP IS GOING TO BE CORRECT? I would think i should see low to mid 90's when it's right? What RPM range should i be running in?

You should be turning close to 5,400 RPM at WOT. Joe and Wayne do not bird dog this site. Call the factory. Are the 32's labbed or stock? Seems like a bit too big of a wheel. You'll know for sure once you get the spacers off. ;

I had a 03' 32 that was setup at the factory with ITS Boxes and -2 shorties. Prior to me purchasing it the shorties and 575 SCI's were removed and it was repowered with HP 500's and standard length DWP lowers. The best we could get it to run was 80 on GPS no matter what props we tried. After doing some research I found out that it was rigged with the shorties so I had some built and I installed them. Best speed on GPS was 88 spinning 30 Bravo Lab's 5,100. Moral of the story is that the extra gear case in the water cost me 8 mph. A 525 boat should easily run into the low 90's IMO.

Reference info -
My 01' Dominator came from the factory with 496ho's. It would run 80 all the time and 81 and change ocassionally. The boat had custom 509's installed. They made 650hp on the dyno with dyno headers(dry) and minimal accessories. So call it what you will in the boat. With the new motors and larger props(stock bravo 30's) the boat ran 90 everyday and typically would see 91-91.5 @ 6000rpm, Best of 92 and change. That info is fact(for my boat) and based on those facts my opinion is a 525 boat has a slim change of making 90. But that opinion is with no knowledge of how ITS or shorties effect this hull and performance.

I heard that factory 500efi boats ran 84-85 and that factory 6.2 boats do 70.

So loosly I think.
640hp = 70ish
850 hp = 80ish
1000hp = 84ish
1200hp = 90ish.

Lastly, 90-92mph in my boat is purely for bar talk. At that speed my boat is very loose. I feel that while the boat will go that fast the conditions need to right(ie, calm almost flat) and I personnely would not be comfortable sustaining that speed for very long.

One of the fastest Dominators was Dragonheart with Vortech'd 540's back in the day. Ran 112'sih. He about bought the farm at the end of a run at the Shootout back when it was still in front of Shooter's. I rode with him when the boat was new at the Sunsation Rally. Boat was an '02 or '03 if memory serves with HO's and as you said, ran right at 80 with 4 of us in the boat. He had extra weight in that boat too as it had AC, an inverter, and extra batts. One crazy mofo. Quartered a crusier wake running WOT with us and damn near tossed his nephew out of the boat. The kid hitting me was the only thing that kept him in the cockpit and I had a death grip on the bolster and felt like I was half out of the boat. My buddy riding shotgun was thrown onto the floor. Guy acted like it was no big deal, I do this all the time. I wanted to swim back to Metro!!

Chris' nephew was lucky you pulled him back in the boat when he was flying out, or he would for sure have been in the drink, and likely far worse. He redefined chine walk, more like rub rail walk.

Bayley had a fast Dominator to...when the motors were together. I dont remember how fast though. Not sure if he comes on here anymore.

Oh other thought, having a 90+ top end does have more benefit than just bar talk and giving major pucker factor. It means I can cruise at 60 at 3200rpm's

Just posting other areas for LACK of RPMS at WOT --- check in a engine scan for available power percentage - if a 100 % is showing no guardian is active . just saying because this has fooled many with an active guardian set and owners think its prop related on new used boat buys.

Also make sure engines are up to snuff / ie compression and fuel pressures. also gear ratio s - proper for the app. AND OF COURSE PROPs that are wrong for the app and set up.
