Kanookstr the rally is at Metro Beach in Harrison Township. It's around 30 miles north of Detroit? I may make the trip out from Maine next year. It's about a 14-16 hour trip for me. There are a couple of ways to go, one is across Pennsylvania, the other up into Canada and across. I don't know how customs would be.

Kanookstr,
You might want to check with Lorrie here at the plant, the dealer is responsible to send in the boat sale/registration paper work, but dont always get around to it. Lorrie can be reached here at the plant at 810-794-4888

Kanookster,
The Rally is held at "Metro Beach" in Harrison Township. "Metro" is about 3/4 the way up the Western Shore of Lake St. Clair (it the piece of land on the south end of Anchor Bay) . It serves as a nice central location for most of the places to go on the Lake. A good place to get information about the area is the Lake St. Clair Net. They've got quite a few charts and basic information on the Lake. Also, almost the entire U.S. side of Lake St. Clair is considered part of the Metropolitan Detroit Area, so accommodations are everywhere.
Lake St. Clair...

Metro Beach Harbor and Lagoon (follow the Balck Creek)

I looked it up on Map quest, It's about 600 Miles for me. the quickest way seems to be thru canada. I was wondering if going by water would be reasonable. After all, thats why were going right. To go boating...lol. What if we launch somewhere near Buffalo??? then shoot across
Or is that to big of water??? It looks to be around 250 miles??? It must get pretty rough out there sometimes huh?
Looks like launching in Cleavland might be only about 100 mile trip.
Just some Ideas I'm throwing at you guys...I can spend 24 hrs driving the boat. It's driving a car/truck for 9 hrs I hate doing

BTW, This is what map quest showed me when I typed in Harrison Township MI. Harrison Township Map

knookstr, Metro Beach is the green patch at the end of Metropolitan Parkway, I live right off Metro Parkway right by the park. Traveling by water from Cleveland could get pretty hairy in a 28, but pretty doable. Water can get pretty nasty between Cleveland and the mouth of the Detroit River. Its 50 miles from the mouth of the river to Metro and a pretty easy ride. From experience, running hard for 80 miles on Saturday, Sunday would be a pretty exhausting day from Metro to Cleveland, Personally, I wouldn't do it. Your best bet is to go through Canada, better ride with less traffic.

Ok. Excuse my ignorance but since I'm gonna be new to the Sunsation family come Feb, I need to know a couple of things. Maybe you guys that have been there, done that can straighten me out:
I have no idea and I am totally clueless as to what a Sunsation rally is, what we'll do or what to expect. Except that we register Fri, take a ride on Sat and raft up on Sun.
I realize all the in depth details are still being worked out on where to register, where the run will take place etc, etc.
What I need to know is a general idea, an overveiw of the weekend.
Things like, Is this a true boating weekend? You know, where everyone stays out on their boat? By the "accomodations are everywhere" statement I'm thinking it's not.
So, if we stay in a hotel room, where are our boats? Please don't tell me, "on the trailer in the hotel parking lot" because that aint happenin'!
Anyway, more details please.

Dave F, the previous page has this post from "DaveSunsation"
Part of the registration is Dock space I believe..
Part of the registration is Dock space I believe..

We will be sending pre-registration forms out probably early June or so but you still need to show up Friday for dock assignment, goody bags and what not. The run has yet to be determined as far as route, actual run will be around 80 miles. The route will start at Metro and proably run east to Algonac or something, then back across the lake to Mac Rays for lunch then up to Detroit somewhere before heading back to the park. Details will follow in a mailer, so if you're a new Sunsation owner, be sure you're registered with us as an owner with address, phone #'s, etc.
Sunday's party will be better organized than last year and will be out in muscamout with prizes being offered out in the bay.
We will have magazine coverage again, dont know when the articles from last year will run, but they will.
Helicopter coverage will be there again as well and the slide show for ordering running before/during dinner.
On a bummer note - the park no longer allows PA systems, DJ's, Bands, etc......guess some folks across the canel in the park we're complaining, we'll figure something out.
One thing is for sure - it's gonna be one whale of a get-together.
Hope you all can make it.

Well, it just so happens that Joe called me today to ask me a couple of questions about my boat. (It's getting ready to go in the mold!!!)
Anyway, while I had him on the phone I asked him all the questions I need and he explained the answers just fine.
One thing I did forget to ask, he said registration is gonna be around $200. I'm assuming per boat, not per person????
Thanks guys
DAVE
