Exclamation 288 Hull change 2004

Just a little info for the 288 owners out there. March of 2004 we redesigned the hull bottom and added the step. Prior to this it did not have a step but what they called a "Vortex" vented area. Also, with the new hull bottom it had a "Turbo tube" installed on the Starboard side step. If this has fallen off, it will make it harder for your boat to get on plane and tend to make it stick to the water. This tube helps with aeration due to the unique design of the hull step. It can easily be replaced with simply a 1/2" pvc tube glued in place with 3M 5200 or 3M 4000 adhesive. A little trick we used was to put the adhesive on and just a couple small blobs of hot glue to temporarily hold in place until it cured.
If anyone has any photos of this tube on there boat can you please email it to me? [email protected] I don't actually have a good photo of it here and would like to keep it on file. Thanks!!

Hi Jeff

Just to clarify Anything newer than 2004 had this tube?

My 09 doesn’t have it. It does look like something use to be bonded there.

Yes, 2004 and newer would have the tubes. You should be able to see where it was bonded if it fell off. Just clean the surface really well and bond the new one back on there. It will help greatly.

This turbo tube should only be mounted on the starboard step? Not both?

For a time it was only on the starboard side then we changed and added to both.
