Default Tape for air vents

Hello,

Does anyone know what type of tape is used for the air vent covers on a 05 288? The one over the swim platform fell off. I bought double sided tape and fit it around the cover but it sits higher then the original tape.

Thanks,

Lou

Hello,

I thought of using 4200. My only concern is if I have to take the vent off for some reason. The more I think of it that’s what I may do.

Thanks

You dont want to lose it either.

I've used 4000 in such cases...just a couple of little dabs on the corners will secure it great, but you can also easily take it off. 4200 is another choice.

You can also use a high grade 100% silicone. Clean the surfaces really well first. We would run a bead all the way around and put a few drops of hot glue at the corners to temporarily hold in place until the silicone cured. Wait a good day for everything to cure all the way or per the instructions on the tube.

3M VHB ?? That's what is used to put on a lot of auto panels and other repairable items. We used it in my industry off and on. Works great and you can get it in many sizes. (VHB is Very High Bond)

Hello,

Thanks for everyone responding. I used the tape for now because I’m bringing my boat to My dealer for storage tomorrow. I will use silicone or 4000 in the spring.
