288 Headed to Mitcher T

Hey Guys,

As you know I am getting the 288 with a windshield. It leaves for Mitcher T's today to get painted.

I picked Standard Graphics Number 9 with a Blue base and Yellow Accents.

Can't wait to see here done with the graphics some time next week.

Cheers,

PS 496HO Motor
Windshield
2 Hatches
2 Batteries
Pump Out PortaPotti
FloScan Installed at Factory! Gauge custom fitted in dash panel.
I did not load it up but she should be fun!

Thanks Guys,

It's just too bad that spring is so far away. My in/out service does not start 'til May 1.

So I guess I will get it over there and maybe wax here on the racks about 10 times the last couple weeks of April!

By then she'll be dangerous to even walk on.

Dave

What rack building do you go with?

Reckless32 01-16-2004 03:51 PM

New builds are always exciting. Keep us posted on it's progress. BTW, how long is the build from start to finish?

Hope it not Millers(RIP).

Had some friends shocked by that deal.

Lucky 01-16-2004 11:30 PM

Hey Guys,

I rack at Beacon Cove at Crocker and Jefferson in Harrison Twp.

What happened to Millers? I did not hear.

Dave

Lime Disease 01-17-2004 04:51 PM

The boat owners were called last Thursday and told
Fridays newspapers will say the building will be torn
down for a 14 story condo. ground braking will be in May
so find new places for your boats.

SteveO 01-19-2004 01:20 PM

Congratulations Lucky. That is going to be a very nice boat. We will see you at Beacon Cove this summer. It is our first year there. Checkmate 283 Convincor with blue and yellow checkered flag graphics. Maybe we can hook up sometime.

Sweet!

Had to come over and check out the pics since you teased us in the PQ forum. ;)

So, exactly how cold is it up there right now? Too cold to splash her??

Reckless32 01-24-2004 11:15 AM

Very nice Luck!...

Lucky 01-24-2004 02:24 PM

Put it this way. We could splash her if she were an ice breaker. Otherwise no go.

Thanks guys. I really can't wait to get out and run her!

I was close to pulling the trigger on the PQ but with the factory within 30 minutes and meeting the guys at Sunsation I had to go with them.

Dave

Reckless32 01-25-2004 03:44 PM

Not to mention a bigger boat...;)

my32dominator 01-27-2004 12:03 PM

:D Nice boat Lucky

Lucky 01-27-2004 06:40 PM

Thanks Guys,

This is going to be the longest winter ever. My last boat was bought in late Feb or early March. So the wait was not that long.

Now it is going to feel like an eternity!

Can't say enough about the crew at Sunsation! They have treated me great and I even got to run over and get the bolsters mounted to fit me like a glove!

Of course living within 30 minutes helps a little.

Take a close look at the dash where they mounted my Floscan unit. It looks exactly like a factory option and they even got the colored bezel. (Thanks Dave!)

We used to keep our boat at Beacon - nice folks and the rack guys are great. I just make sure I give them a styrofoam cooler with a 24 can tip at the beginning and end of the season and they bend over backwards for ya... ;)

Lucky 01-28-2004 07:36 PM

nice idea i never did tip them but i will this summer

thanks

Kanookstr 01-29-2004 01:53 PM

Like Steve Martin said in the movie"My Blue Heaven."

" It's not tipping I believe in, It's over tipping"!!!:D

jmackin 01-29-2004 03:18 PM

Congrats! Looks good, my only concern would be the battery boxes. Looks like the ones they sell at k-mart.

CAP071 01-29-2004 04:13 PM

Congrats! :)

Reckless32 02-03-2004 10:31 AM

Hey Lucky, did you buy the flo-scan and bring it to them, or did they get it for you? That sounds like a nice option to have. When is the boat anticipated to be deliverable and how many weeks from trigger pull would it be?

Reckless,

I purchased Floscan and had shipped directly to Sunsation and the guys did the install.

The boat is now done now but can't try it out. Ice is too thick here in Michigan.

I placed the order on 11/24/03 and it was done about the end of January. So that makes it about 2 months but that was during the slower time I think. Check with them to be sure since I think build time goes up right around now.

The Sunsation guys are great!!

Dave

You gotta ditch those rubber flappers and put some sweet exhaust tips on that thing right away!

OK about how much is that option going to cost me?

I am also looking at putting one of these mapping color screen gps on if I can fit it where the trim indicators would have gone if I had them:

How much do the tips run?

I had planned on possibly putting my own drive shower on. It looks simple.

Any +/- to the drive showers???

Thanks,

Dave

CAP071 02-06-2004 05:18 AM

Chris288 02-06-2004 09:41 AM

look at eddie marine,, things are a lot less expensive on there..

I don't know if there is a difference, but the dealer quoted me 560.00 for the gauge bezels, 550.00 for the swim ladder, and like 400 for the tips.

I'm thinking of doing my own gauge bezels, grab handles, and possibly swim ladder from Eddie Marine, along w/ their switchabe mufflers.

prices seem to be about half of what the dealer wants, the only thing i'm not sure of is the quality of their 250 dollar swim ladder, its just that 550 seems a bit pricey..

Kanookstr 02-06-2004 09:53 AM

Chris232, The Sunsation ladder is well worth the price.. It's custom made to fit, and it's a quality item.. You will have to make modifications if you buy an aftermarket one.;)

Chris288 02-06-2004 10:11 AM

Kanook, I agree, just seems all the uprgrades are VERY expensive,, If you order and install yourself through Eddie, things are about half, minus the swim ladder.

I saw it mentioned before that sun, uses a 5.00 walmart battery box,, dont remember who brought it up, but I think eddie has the aluminum offshore type for 69.00 bucks..

Kanookstr 02-06-2004 10:20 AM

My 2002 didn't come with a W. Mart Battery box. I did how ever use one when I installed my second battery under the rear bench seat. I did that because if the batteries ever died, how would you get to them to jump them if you need power to raise the hatch.;) Besides, I think the battery and boxes are instaled by the dealers. So they vary from dealer to dealer , along with the types of batteries.:p

The new hatch rams can be lifted manually, incase of power loss. ;) ;)
